This is a trite song about ennui and coming to terms with the limits of creative smoke screening.

After struggling with songwriting for over a month, I finally decided to write a song about my struggle with writing songs. Every aspect of this song was conceived, written and finalized in a matter of 20 minutes. This recording is only the second or third time I'd ever played the song from start to finish. Maybe this haste shows and manifests itself in some of the song's weaknesses, but I think that the speed with which I pushed this song towards completion helped me to focus and make something worthwhile.

keep this

from the sounds of it, this sounds like the desperate, hollowness of Bruce Springsteen's brilliant Nebraska album and even some of Tom Wait's early/mid-80's stuff.
A harmonica solo would lift a little bit more life into the song perhaps. I like the barking dog there, it adds character to the song (think "Seamus" by pink floyd).
