My submission for the Electronic EP #2! http://www.newgrounds.com /bbs/topic/1096892 (remove space)

Holy fuck I've been working on this song FOREVARRRR and there's still so much to do... I really hope I get in, but there's a lot of competition. Regardless of whether I do or not I'll probably be selling this song in the future so it will not end up on Newgrounds :C Sorry...

"Euphoric!"

date: September 22, 2009

That's what this track is, euphoric. The harmony just fills me with happiness and I promise you, I will be one of the first to buy the OM when it's released, just be sure to send me a pm about it! Anyways, on with the review.

I'm fine with most aspects of the track. The only things that are bothering me is the low end and the kick. First, the low end. There's just not enough of it man. You really need to power up that bass. And my other bone to pick is the kick. It seems a little flat if you catch my drift? I dunno', it just sounds like it needs a bit more OOMPH to it but this is only a demo so I can't lay down my judgement just yet :P (and I can sometimes get things horribly wrong when I review stuff using my cans so just ignore this review if it doesn't make sense).

Anyways, the melody, harmonies and overall feel of this track is enough to make me love it for a lifetime. I look forward to hearing the OM and I'll be keeping a watchful eye over your tracks..

Author's Response:

Thank you, I've never sold any music before and it means a lot to hear you'd buy it :)

I agree with you about the low end. I'm in the process of getting that sorted out, it already sounds a lot better, and louder. The kick though is a bit tricky. I want it to be more of a boomy kick with a lot of sub end so it's harder to make it as punchy as your standard trance kick... I think I'm reaching a good compromise.

But yeah euphoric is what I was going for. I still have a lot of work to do, I'll try to make this track meet its full potential. Thanks for the support!

"YES"

date: September 20, 2009

Finally some real competition XD Not FL-sounding (like almost all submissions sound for the EP) great melody. Lovely progressive sounding and the drums do the job.

Though I have one suggestion. The chords change now every 2 bars, but I'd like it more if they would change 2x as fast. (it's your song though ;))

5/5, 10/10, but no favourite and download since it's an demo of under 1 minute.

Gr MW-Audio (Mjattie)

p.s. check out my submission for this EP if you want :) (-->Don't Forget)

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review, mjattie. It doesn't sound like FL because I'm not using FL, so that might help :P (jokes aside, I like to make all my own synths from scratch) I totally disagree with you about the chord changes, but that's just a matter of personal opinion I guess. Well the main reason I think they need to be that way is to match up with the 2 bar counter melody (that fades in near the end) And I think it's totally more progressive and trancy to have longer, drawn out chord progressions. It might help if the bass pattern was more interesting though. I'll check out your submission now.
