Author Comments

Just want to comment that "Knight of Erebus", the game that this song is intended for, is coming along excellently. My own portion? Not as much, as I'm late as hell finishing my tracks. (I intended to have all the themes finished by fucking august, and here it is halfway through september....)

Oh well, here's a preview of the final boss music. I hope you enjoy it.

(also, the name of the game is probably one of the best, most creative names I've seen.)

And I'm impressed. Your work continues to progress. I hope you go into a career in music (if you haven't already) because you're clearly a successful writer. You know what you're doing and always get the feeling you're going for across easily. Keep up the awesome work. I on the other hand, with little musical talent, have much to learn. But I'm on my way. I wish you the best of luck in your future projects and life in general.

Author's Response:

Thank man, I'm glad you liked it.

About the feeling part though, that's not always the case. In fact, this song turned out tons lighter in terms of mood than I originally meant to convey, and the full version is actually a little convoluted in terms of theme. For example, the section immediately after the section that this version ended with has a dark mood to it.

Funny thing though is that I have a hard time believing I'll be successful in the music industry, specifically because of my style. There isn't a lot of room for classical artists outside of production music. Oh well.....

Make sure to remind me to check out your songs, I tend to forget.

This is absolutely perfect for boss music. I can't wait to play the game.

Author's Response:

Neither can I, personally. I just wish I didn't have this crappy computer, so I could enjoy the game more. Oh well.

Glad you liked the music, and thanks for the review!

I love it and i can feel the emotion in the song, especially at the beginning.

What I love mostly is that you found your style of music, that you love and enjoy to make. I am still in the process of finding what I like most. At the moment i've been dabbling in dance but I think I would enjoy making songs, sort of like paragonx9, but of course in my own way. I enjoy to listen to your songs, although it is very hard to fully grasp all the accents and emotion of a classical instrument, made electronically, you are certainly doing a good job of it. Keep up the good work :D

Author's Response:

I guess I kinda did find my preferred genre of music, although, to be honest, this was always the direction I was headed in, since summer of '08.

Man, thanks for reminding me, I never got around to checking your songs out. It's been months now, sorry.

Glad you noticed my efforts to really emulate real instruments, it's extremely difficult to say the least.

About finding your voice, just wait. It'll come naturally. Have you ever made a song where you just kept composing for hours on end, never getting bored, and when you finally finish, you sit and listen to it repeatedly? That's when you know you've found your voice.

Thanks for the review, man!

date: September 23, 2009

your being sarcastic about the name of the game arent you?

i like it, althought i dont really think this feels like boss music, its too happy and uplifting, either way, its still realy good

the strings sound very pristine, nocomplaints

omg when the harp comes in, that was fucking great, gives it a good moving feel

are those piano chords i hear in the background as well??

the only thing i can really say is that its a bit quiet, but that should be easy enough to fix

this sounds really really good, i cant wait to see where it goes

peace out dude

Author's Response:

No, I'm not. I actually like the name, and you'll see why when you play the game. Although the praise might be overblown (I was high when I typed it), the meaning is still the same.

I had to keep it a bit quiet though, or else the drums would have caused dropouts of the rest of the instruments. It'll be better mastered in the final version though ;-)

I had the same concern that it was too happy for boss music, but I fixed that in the section after this demo, as you will see.

And yes, you're hearing piano chords, inspired by Yoko Shimomura and KH.

I was thinking about the final boss music to FFX when I made this song though, which is why that middle section with the harp is there.

Thanks for checking this out, man. I'll try to check out your song as soon as I can (don't know how long that'll be after the news I heard today), thanks again man!
