"Three-Year-Old Slug" Live mix

Note that it's not actually live, just rendered bone tracks from my live set.

This is personally one of my favorite Modem tracks so far. The name is a reference to how much time I spent working on my new album, and how slow my progress was.

The reason I like it so much is because the structure behind it plays off as a sort of summary or timeline of my progress as a hobbyist in electronic music - from a basic, lo-fi, underdeveloped casio drum kit and minimalist oscillator to a complicated, powerful and emotional stack of wide-ranged synths and intricate (imo) drum patterns.

I am really proud of this one ;)

awye

Are those first drums from an SK1? The pattern at the end was faaaabulous.
And good job on panning a fuckload of shit all over the place but still keeping a "balance"

Sweet

I am a huge fan of Blood on my fists.. you are really brilliant, and you should find a way to put your music together.. it sounds quite separated.. not like a whole piece.. but good. :)

modem responds:

Separated as in the individual tracks seem random/sporadic, or do you mean my music in general is strange and inconsistent? ;O

Glad you like it though, thanks a ton!

Hellavonrichtorstein!

You are a god of indie industrial techno.

I hope I can one day be as good as you. Honestly, whenever I don't quite know what to do with my music, I listen to yours for inspiration before anyone else. Though our styles are quite different, your music always finds a way to inspire me. I really don't think I'll ever be able to make my drum tracks as complicated and technical as yours, but it's a goal I'll always try to reach.

For the record, I like this mix much better than the on the album =] Ah-mazing.

I would be honored if you checked out my song "There Is Static In My Blood"
