I heard Taxman, then I went, WHOA!

And the result is this song.

EDIT 1: Spiced up the drums, probably edited the EQing as well, added a few parts here and there but it's mostly the same.

And a surprise at the end.

Good drum sounds

Did you use a real drum set here? Most drum sounds you can hear in the audio portal sound pretty awful, especially the cymbal. Here the drums sound very realistic, so that's why I'm asking.

The other instruments sound pretty good as well. especially the guitar. You found just the right amount of distortion here.

What this song needs is some kind of vocals as it gets a bit repititve after a short while, vocals could really help and I think they would also fit nicely to the song.

Sawdust responds:

Nah man, I just used drum samples and I just EQed it to give it a sort of muddy feel.

And I can't add any vocals, as I am a terrible poet and singer, so sorry.

Nice loop - more variation please

A good base for a decent track has been set, but the guitar sounds just seemed to go around in circles. Perhaps doing something more than that attempted solo at the end of the track would give you a lot more to play with - it's as if you had to cut the solo in its prime about halfway through, which was a real shame.

The drums need some sort of lift, as they can get a little flat - a bass solo would really help out, taking away from the snare sound of the rest of the drums.

It's got potential, so work on it and make it good :)

Sawdust responds:

Alright, I've made revision 1 so revision 2 will have a bass solo then probably.

Too repetitive.

Gotta say, I really enjoyed...

The beat was really strong and nice..I liked how all the instruments were perfectly audible, rather than the common mistake people often make of just letting the guitar drown everything else out.

Unfortunately, it gets repetitive very quickly. The melody just doesn't change enough throughout the song..

The ending is far too abrupt, but in a way, it kinda worked, as the song looped pretty seamlessly.

Sawdust responds:

Thanks, much love.

Nice track, but repetitive.

Score: 8 / 10
Summary: Nice track, but repetitive.
Review: I heard it loop three times without really noticing it, but after those three times, I was really, really tired of the same drums and the repetitive guitar.

The beat was catchy, I admit that, but it was too repetitive, pretty much the same thing playing over and over. The beat wasn't changed much, but the guitar changed enough to keep it un-repetitive for the first loop.

I liked the ending and intro, a nice build-up, but the ending was honestly a little too sudden.

Okay then, I'll make some adjustments then.

Thanks!

Very catchy beat all around and it's a pretty fun submission to listen to. Perhaps a bit repetitive every now and then, but you did change it up a little bit here and there to make it manageable.

Perhaps some vocals or faded voices saying something would sound pretty cool. I think something like a count down from 3 or a count up from 3 in a voice would sound pretty cool. Something along the lines of, "1, 2, 3, Go."

I do think that the ending was a little abrupt and that there could have been a build up to the ending or a better series of notes to end it on than what you used.

Sawdust responds:

Indeed, it was too sudden, I didn't exactly elaborate on the ending sequence. So, i'll probably throw in a synth there coming in ocassionally, and coming in at the end and punctuating the song.
