Keep in mind while listening that this is a work in progress.
Also, as a club mix, it has a somewhat dull (repetitive) intro and outro.

My original goal was to make a song centered around the "pipe" sound from Mario Bros.
I had so many ideas I wanted to try. After many tryouts and completely revamped arrangements varying from minimal to hard trance I decided to go for an electro-style-trance-I-du nno-what-else mix.
I thought it would be cool to begin with overworld (including a little homage to my own Mario Bros 1-1 remix), crossover to the star (invincible) sound, get a couple of 1ups and then go back to overworld again. The decision to overlay the wingcap sound came later on and I still don't know if I like it or not. This relates to my list of problems I would very much like you to address.

Major personal issue:
Wingcap sound (02:28): ditch it, change it, keep it?

Minor personal issues:
Equalizing (individual instrument levels etc.)
Panning (experimented a lot ;-)
Instrument choice (especially wingcap)

But feel free to leave me some constructive criticism about anything. This is by far the most complex song I ever created and would like to hear your opinion. Be harsh, be kind, leave a review!

"Great, but..."

date: September 17, 2009

The pipe sound was too dominant, but it still sounded like it fit, in a strange way.

Author's Response:

Yes instead of using the pipe sound as a subtle effect here and there, I used it as a basis for this song. If there are more people that think I should change it (and it looks that way) I will, for now though, I will give it some time first. thx for your review!

"I thought it was pretty wicked."

You know unlike most songs that sound like they're original's that get submitted here, this is very different, I think you made good use of the sounds. Nice job. I like the fact it doesn't sound "exactly" the same. Also it was very spacey.

Author's Response:

Spacey, that's a good word to describe it I guess :P Thx for the review!

"i like the theme"

date: August 18, 2009

I like the overall progression and blending of sounds here, save for the pipe sound unfortunately. It seems to stand out too much. Maybe not have it so straightfoward all throughout the song? Btw the panning and eq work is pretty good so no worries.

Author's Response:

Yeah maybe your right about the pipe sound. It's kinda dominant. I will look into it. I'm glad you liked the rest. Thanks for your review.
