Now this track is one hell of a beast.
After making this track I came to the conclusion that I really need a new CPU <_<.

Anyways I hope it's hard enough!
And no NG Edit this time... guess you have to live with the oh so boring BuildUP (It's not boring!)

Good Music dood, but lacking

So ive gone through listening to quite a bit of your songs and noticed they all have the same openings in a way. Some are more weak then others. Perhaps add some background synth in your openings? or some sort of echo beat... it just seems lacking.

VelociD responds:

This ones old :D.
Glad you like it anyways!

Nice.

Glad you kept the intro in there, it gave the song the length it needs.

At 1:40 I very much enjoyed it, it thinned out, and the transition around 2:00 was brilliant, you have a skill for that my friend.

One thing I noticed throughout the song is your excellent use of FX, very well placed and chosen. Your instruments are unique and catchy, may I ask, are they presets, or custom?

(I usually use presets :(. I suck)

Again, your drums are well composed, thats another thing I suck at, drums. I try to listen to drums in songs, and I agree with darthmarus that a pitch randomiser on the snare would enhance its sound.

On the bass side, I felt it was perfectly positioned, as this is a Trance song, so it had the right amount of bass, any more and it would be dubstep.

The main thing I didnt like is the very start of the intro. The snare playing on it's own is very plain and uninteresting, and leaves a bad first impression. Also when the first saw cuts in, I feel it should fade in, or come in with a sweep, or something. It's too sudden Imo.

Overall a very brilliant song. You deserve every 5/5 you get. DL'ed

VelociD responds:

First I want to say thx for your lengthy review and taking your time to write it.

I am glad someone thinks the same way regarding the intro :D.
As you mentioned it does have its negative sides though.

Personally I think I suck at transitions.
Usually I waste so much time on them to get them right, but in the end they'll still suck. Maybe I am too critical of myself in this case.

I try to avoid using presets as much as possible nowadays, for the sake of learning how to create my own individual sounds.
In Melody I used one preset called Mega Dance (Pro-53) for the mainpart.
Everything else I made myself. (except for the percussion)

To get the hang of sounddesign google for "Substractive Synthesism" - thats the easiest and most common way of creating your own sounds from scratch =).

Regarding the bass... for Hardstyle standards it is way too weak, but I didn't know better back then.

P.S.: If u need help, don't hesitate to message me via PM.

DVLooper

could b better

make the bass stronger and louder..
thats what a PRO SHufla (LIEK ME) wants

Hmm

Well if you ask me about opinion... Make it shorter and with a bit build up. I know you are experimating but it kinda loses power in the process and rhytm

VelociD responds:

I never really pay attention to the duration... and I guess it's always fine as it is.
Making it shorter would destroy the whole track :P.
Making it longer would well... make it longer :D.

Thx for your review.

seriously nice

pretty sweet. it sort of loses energy at around 2:09 and it takes alittle too long for my tastes to regain it.
it has a lot of energy, i like it. :)

for literal, direct, helpful advice,, i think that adding a 1% pitch randomizer to that generic snare, and all the samplers really, would do wonders (piano roll>tools>randomizer) uncheck pattern and check levels, then drag "pitch" the tiniest fraction up. it adds a lubtle variation that makes the whole thing sound more real.

(btw, if you alreay know how to use the randomizer sorry for being patronizing but better that than leaving someone saying "how the hell do i do that?" lol)

VelociD responds:

Thank you for your lenghty review, darthmarus!
I will give it a try.
