Wrote this after a long stent of going without sleep. I've been hanging onto it for a while, but finally decided I'd put it up and see what happens. Reviews are welcome, and gratefully returned!

"Great"

What an impressive track this is - the beats are wonderful and the melody compliments it so well that the track easily sits as a nice backing tune for doing most things to.

A bit of a shame that it sounds like a little high-end static creeping into the track in the middle, when it all gets a little loud and jumbled. Still, when it all calms down again, the track re-assumes its incredible pace and presence. I love the slower, longer synth notes that you've thrown in there, which tempers the fire of the track nicely. Perhaps a little more variation could be required, but it's still a wonderful piece.

Author's Response:

Glad you dig it man, good stuff...high end static...dunno what to do about that. Kinda predictable, but all I got is FL Studio. Im not sure how to keep up my bass volume, and still cut that static out...so I guess I'll have to fork out some cash to get a better program for mixing...or deal with the static...hmm

"Well-done trance"

date: August 20, 2009

===============
Score: 8 / 10
Summary: Well-done trance
Review: I keep hearing "Trance is supposed to be repetitive", but is that necessary?

Some of the parts were repeated over and over, to the point where it wasn't something I could even "dig". I'm biased, though.

The rhythms are good, absolutely, but really repetitive, except for in transitions (which are great), but the melody is pretty much all the same all over. You should cut at least one minute off the song, as it's not necessary. Try some moer effects (sound effects), other instruments and a few other rhythms.

A quality track, absolutely good. At least, I think so.

Author's Response:

Well, my friend, I imagine the reason you don't dig it is because you're looking at it the wrong way. You want to see trance as though it were any other pop genre, built with a certain construction that makes it recognizable. But trance is, as are many electronica styles, more...free form, so to speak. Mainly it depends upon progression throughout the song, however, just about any sort of organizational pattern is game, even the overtly used pop ones. I can't speak for all who listen to trance, but one the of the reasons I dig it so much is because I like taking it apart; analyzing each sound on its own with its own progression, one by one, and hearing them all alone, as well as all together at the same time. Sounds trippy, but if you give it a shot, it's pretty frkin cool. Infected Mushroom is insane man...I'm tellin you.

"Good background music"

date: August 19, 2009

The beat here is very nice and the melodies are pretty catchy. I think this is good in a strategy game as it has a very driving beat, "forcing" the player to do something and not just sit around and wait.

However, I think some breaks here and there from the main beat would be nice to have. I felt that there was only a few beats that constantly repeated themselves.
