This is my version of the theme created for the First Orchestration Contest 2009 by Nathan Allen Pinard. Although I created this, I will NOT be submitting this to the contest for my own reasons.
:)

Good luck to everyone who is in the contest! There are some superb compositions entered by talented musicians! To anyone who is interested you can follow the contest in the audio forums here!

"There aren't words"

date: October 28, 2009

There aren't words to explain how fantastically epic this amazing song is!!
"darkdemon40k" - i dont know what you're talking about, the strings are so not the "mainframe" of the orchestra, orchestra is nothing without its wind instruments, which are perfectly placed in this piece by the way
anyway,

"One thing you're missing."

date: October 4, 2009

This is a magnificent piece, but the ring to a orchestra is not in its wind ensemble, but rather its strings. Dont forget the viola and base, and cello, the main low beats of orchestra and the violins (MAINFRAME) of a orchestra. Drums are for the effects. Make stronger chords, do not forget slurs and long dragged out notes in the violin sections. And I think your missing the cello and deeper strings altogether. Im not sure if this is because of your format. But I do recommend that you take a look at what makes up the main beats in a real orchestra in order to get that ring that you're looking for. VARIETY VARIETY VARIETY! 8D And dont forget that a good orchestra has a choir. :]

Author's Response:

I agree with some things you said. But others dont make sense, Like the wind instruments. I very rarely use them, In fact there are none in this piece because they didnt fit the feel I was aiming for. There are loads of strings in this of all sections of the orchestra. Including Db Basses, Cellos, Violas and 11 and 18th Section of Violins. Also by saying dont forget the choir...there is loads in here, from the start right to the end.

I dont know what you are using to listen to music on your computer, because its the only reason I can think of that you wont hear this piece the way it is meant to be heard.

Thanks for your review though. It is appreciated.

"Loved it"

Everything just seemed to mesh together perfectly. There wasn't anything in here that I didn't like! I just don't see why people aren't rating this higher.

Author's Response:

:D Some of my stuff is a very acquired taste. In a sense, alot of it isnt classic. So I can understand why people wouldnt always rate it high. But its great that there are a good selection of people who do enjoy it! It makes working and then submitting these kind of tracks worth while.

Thanks again!

Every note is correct, every single note has its context and fits in.
Beautiful composition.
I like the intro and the drumwork, but I really love the violin. It is really a beautiful piece.
Thanks for sharing this.

"WoW"

date: September 24, 2009

Hey, you! You have talent, this song is very good, I love it. I like the voice of your choir. All of your instruments sound good ( I mean sound quality ) in here it is somewhat rare to have a good sounding ( in Newgrounds ), espescially for the brass instruments. The intro is flawless. Very good song again!

Author's Response:

Thanks so much. It's one of my major aims to try and get it real sounding as possible, im no where near where I want it to be like. But Im desperate to push it! Thanks again for the score!
