Adam I + Bladezor - Stubborn Synapse

UPDATE 7-24-09:
WOOOOOOT! It got played on BassDrive.com yesterday during the The Green Room show hosted by Stunna! This is a huge milestone for Adam I and myself.

I've PM'd TomFulp to see if he can up my file limit or something so I can get the 320kbps version up on here, we'll see how that works out. Meanwhile I'm putting the 128kbps version up until I hear from Tom. I'll keep you posted :)

-------------------------

The story behind this tune is a bit random. If you look at my profile I had been working on it solo for a while seen here http://www.newgrounds.com /audio/listen/254038

I posted that version on another forum. A few days later Adam I contacted me on AIM saying he liked some of my tunes, at the same time I absolutely loved another one of his tunes. We talked for a while and our 'musical' tastes seemed to click very well. Anyways, I randomly decided to send him the source I had and the rest is history...

It's a great privilege to work with such a talented individual.

Adam I and myself don't really care to be signed, we do this because we love to make music and hope others enjoy our work. We're hoping this gets played on BassDrive (my favorite internet radio station), big ups BassDrive massive!

I hope you guys enjoy.

I hope they don't mind haha, it's fair use and low res.

-------------------------

I've been getting a lot of 0 bombs, I'm not sure whether that's typical of NG or if people honestly do believe this song is horrendous. If you do find something you don't like about it please share.

I don't think D&B is defined as having an instant drop right when the song starts which seems to be so prominent on NG lately, it inhibits the flow of the song.

Maybe it just means we need a more enticing intro, I dunno you tell me.

Alternatively it could just be other artists trying to bump their way to the top by pushing other's below them, taking that easy route is destined to fail. Fine...rate your own tunes up but don't push other's down, that's just low.

The only reason a semi-high rating is important to me is I believe I'll get more constructive criticism. In fact, I could care less what my rating was, as long as I get some reviews and criticism I'm content. I'm a fairly humble guy, reviews and criticism, that's all I ask for.

Thank you!

"awesome"

date: October 8, 2009

When i started this song the intro seemed a bit boring but i left it on and it made me really relaxed. I origionally though that the echo on the sax was a bit much but it grew on me and its now like my anthem of the chill sesh...its one of those songs u can jsut leave on repeat and just chill.....fantastic

"Why haven't I found this before..."

date: August 6, 2009

Seriously, why didn't I find this earlier? NG lacks full drum & bass songs, and this one is definitely high quality (as in production). You guys did an amazing job on this. I love the pads and ambience and the chilled-out feel it has. I only have two complaints about this song. First, I feel the snare could've been a bit better. The snare you currently have has great high-end, but could benefit from some more lows and some more snap. My other complaint is that the saxophone can be too loud at points, at least to me. For example, at 2:18, it's kind of overpowering.

Overall, this song is great. Good job on getting in played on BassDrive! I wish you guys well for your future productions.

"Very nice...."

date: July 29, 2009

indeed this, love the sound of the sax over the evolving pads, panning is great and the bass sublime. The beats fit very nicely and the overall mix is very well done. Excellent piece with plenty of little things coming in to keep the interest :D

"chill and loungy"

date: July 19, 2009

Awesome track! Normaly not into D&B, but this is far more than just the normal D&B! It has a smooth ambient beginning with some nice smoothing chords! The beat is just nice, not really my taste like i said, but it works with the song! But then for the sax, its absolutly awesome!! It gives it a jazzy vibe and from ambient it goes on to lounge music. Definetly wanna get the 320 kbs version of this!
I'm more of a vintage kind of musician, love my piano, rhodes and bass. But this is something great to hear besides all the rest! Remindes me a little to St Germain (about the best lounge artist alive :P)
Well thats about it... no bad things to say... just a matter of personal taste!
Great song!

Author's Response:

Thank you ChrisisD. While I don't listen to a whole lot of Jazz and Funk I have a great respect for all that it has offered. A lot of my recent tunes are better categorized under the genre "Liquid Funk" which incorporates many jazzy, funky themes. It's awesome to see that those who don't particularly listen to liquid find some enjoyment in our tunes.

Thank you again ChrisisD, I'll let you know when we've got the final HQ version done.
