I wrote this piece for NeonProject's contest "I Swear It's True". The point of the contest is to find a news article and write a song about it. I recently began composing classical music, and I've achieved relatively fast success, with a college band playing a piece a friend and I collaborated on. Using my composing skills for band, I decided to write a piece based on the recent train derailment near Chicago. You can find the article here: http://www.foxnews.com/st ory/0,2933,527823,00.html . The piece itself begins with that start of the train's journey and follows it as it progresses through different landscapes. The piece finally becomes more intense as the train begins to fault. The piece then becomes dissonant as the train begins to derail. The piece then builds until it completely derails, and the explosion and fire begins. After that, a short clip in memory and honor of the driver and passengers of a vehicle who was stopped at a crossing plays. They suffered extreme burns, and there was one death. The rest are in serious or critical condition. My prayers are with everyone involved.

Great

It's an interesting blend of classical writing and atmospheric instrumentation. Slightly experimental in sound quality but it's a great idea, and the mix of the two tehniques makes for a great portrayal of the story you chose. Solid, honest original work overall. Good luck at the contest !

Imagery's Great

I can really put the song to images, but as is said, the quality isn't that good. I like the instruments, and the theme is pretty consistent. All in all, I like the song.

I composed this using Finale 2009, and I have no real experience with audio tweaking. I just write the music. Hopefully I can offer better quality sound in the future! Thanks for the review.

Hmm...

Not too bad, The sound quality didn't seem top notch, but It was good. It did transition nicely though from verse to verse. A job well done I'd say.
