Amazed I did this in one day, took about 4-5 hours or so total to make.

Trying a couple new things here, I heard in a couple Pendulum tracks (and some others) that they would sometimes used the bassline to power to drumline, or vice versa, so I gave that a shot. Also, worked on my side-chaining a bit with this, getting a bit better at it but still have alot of practice with it left to do.

Project started out planned to be a dark, gritty, drum and bass track, and instead wound up a breaktrance track, I deviate from my plans so much when I make audio XD

very pendulum-esc track, i could very well see it even being one of theres. Fantastic, it really creates a mood of like seriousness but still i could enjoy myself on the dancefloor to this beast of a tune ;)

"Nice song"

date: June 8, 2009

Nice song, though the beginning could use some improvement(read the comment below :P).
Really like the drums and stuff that come in at 3:00. Their panning wants to make my head spin (or smth like that)

Author's Response:

Yeah I loved how the 3:00 segment came out, as for the panning, the snare is actually off-center a little to the right, combined with ping-pong delay echoes on the piano (alternates between left panning and right panning each delay/echo)

"A little odd."

date: June 4, 2009

The intro was nice, that saw was amazing. I think, if you faded it out into the bassline that comes in, it would sound pretty cool. The song is a little awkward at first, because the bass you have, and the drums, dont really compliment each other all that well, which is hard to do. However, later on in the song, when more instruments come in, it sounds much better. I felt that the percussion was lacking in something, there was just a kick and a snare.

The good, because there is plenty: It sounds a lot like a Breaktrnce song, which is what you were aiming for. It has a definate flow to it, a lot of nice saws and pads. The piano was the best by far, it was very professional sounding.

Overall, nice work! It needs a bit of experimenting, but it's good!

9/10 and 5/5.

Author's Response:

yeah agreed on the bass, this was originally going to be a DnB track and I didn't really tweak that bass much. I'm thinking of maybe doing a remix or at least a cleanup of this soon enough, the first half of the track I think I could've done much better on after hearing it a few times.

Drumline I'm not sure on what to do with it if I redo this, any more complex and it kinda feels overpowering, but any less and it's too minimalistic...we'll figure that out when we get there XD

I've been getting a few compliments on the piano, I kinda figured out a system for making my piano scores if I'm using a Fortune style piano (with the delay). Figure out the chord structure of the measure, then build a single arp out of that with the piano, allowing it to echo for at least half a measure, then for the next measure, make another arp that could stack on top of the previous one nicely.
Alot of it ends up by ear though, but the system is a good start I guess.

Thanks for the feedback, it's this constructive criticism I really crave :D
