Finally submitted! \o/

As of now, there are 2 votes. And judging from the very first review of this song, I'm pretty sure someone zero bombed this. -_- I know, it happens to anyone, even to a newcomer. SO...

READ: If you're gonna rate this and any future songs a score of 0, please have the decency to at least write a review and give a good reason for doing so. Constructive criticism is most welcome of course. That's all. XD

Hello to the NG community!

Cave Story... one of the few games that I enjoyed during my summer vacation last year. The game had such awesome music that I decided to remix one of the songs in it.

This is actually just a simple MIDI remix of Mimiga Town. I made this remix last year and made my friend (Who is btw somewhere here in NG and has submitted a good number of metal tracks, which he refers to as "his style." I wonder who that is. -rtnarioehemehem- XD) listen to it. He spotted a number of mistakes in my remix and so I fixed those mistakes.

After that, I converted this MIDI to WAV... and then to MP3. The conversion I did wasn't exactly your standard way of converting MIDI with soundfont or by recording. It's actually- Oh wait, it's a secret. XD

Enjoy my first release here in NG! =)

Somehow uplifting and trembling my heart.

The melody and chord follow just in the right order that it tells the story very clearly about a departure to greater adventure and reflect back about where you come from. The instruments are not that great but the melody is excellent.

carlohmf responds:

As I've always said, I've always liked this song and it's one of my favorites in the game. XD I understand what you mean by the instruments not being great. It's MIDI after all. Don't get me wrong, I do love MIDI, but with so much new technology available for making music, MIDI sequences seem to be a little out of date.

I'm currently using FL Studio 9 which was just released a few days ago. XD

Thanks for the review!

really great!

well, i dont know, but for any reason i really like this song you made here.
maybe it because you have chosen one of my farorite songs in the whole game.
I like the sounds which ae playing in the background, and the main song plays in the foreground.

I know that its the same as in many other songs, but your choice of the sounds and strings is that what i rly like here, because of any reason, i like them a lot!

carlohmf responds:

Thanks, the song is one my favorites in the game too. =D

Again with this "rtnario rtnario" thing!?

*ahem* xD

Seriously speaking, there are still a number of errors in melody when it comes to accuracy in the remix. Bass from 00:40 - 00:41. Lead, 00:45 - 00:46. 2nd Voice, 00:48 - 00:49, 00:52 - 00:53, 00:59 - 1:00, 1:01 - 1:02 & 1:04 - 1:05. You can ask me here (or via other ways) about the mistakes, since I also remixed the same track and made a MIDI file of all base melodies, which is what I used to compare to this one. Of course, there's also what a remix means, which is your take and/or twist on the original piece, so what I pointed out can either be right or wrong. But you already know it's for the better. xD

The track itself is exactly how you said it: it's a simple remix of Mimiga Town. Faithful to the original with some instrument changes here and there to make it sound even better. It's great as a cover, but not really as a remix since it could've used some variation IMO =)

Awesome first submission. Keep it up, (and I'll be listening to "THANK YOU.mid" until then xD)

5/5, 9/10.

carlohmf responds:

Ah, you didn't need to be that specific about the errors, but it's for the better, yes. Tack. XD

And you're right about the "remix" part. It's more of a MIDI version than a remix actually, but I still like it anyway. Like you said, it can use some of my own variations. =)

Hehehe, listen to "THANK YOU.mid" while you still can. Because the final version is gonna be totally different... -Elite Pose- \m/ ...kidding, the final version is pretty much the same as THANK YOU, except- *beep sound* ...tuuuuuuuuut. XD
