Last time I submitted a true hip-hop joint was back in August of last year. Everything I've submitted since then has truly been sub-par. That's all over now though; I've finally buckled down to give you what you truly deserve.

I havent stuck it wit you all tha way and listened to EVERYTHING like sum of the people below. And I'm kinda lucky I guess cuz I heard recent then old then recent so I may not see those patterns the people below me see. All I know is that this beat is still active no matter what.

After listening to a few of your works, I'm starting to see a major pattern.
You've been using the same kit over and over again. This could be put in old school, but I'd put this more on the Modern portion of Hip Hop.
You need to vary the sounds you use in your songs. You can have different beats on each song, but use the same kit/voices/instruments, and it becomes boilerplate, bland, and pedestrian.
The plus side is that the bassline is catchy as Hell in this thing.

Author's Response:

There are three beats on here that I made all in the span of a week and yeah, you caught me, you saw the similarities. I don't think I am going to change any of that but I can see how it could be a problem. Good thing I'm not selling any of my tracks, right? Hahaha.

Thanks for the very constructive criticism though!

Love ya.

PS: I am loving your review title.

i agree wit HW on thiss for the most part... i like the beat with the moraccas and whatnot.. but yeah this isnt really oldskool... and if people just put their subissions wherever they want, then theres really no point in having genres... but i like where your going with your style and i know your gona make some sick grimey soudning stuff in the future so keep it up, some variety between songs would be nice also ....
otherwise good job on the tracksss

"dear fancy mike."

i like your style thats for sure, but i have a couple complaints.
id put this in modern first of all.
second of all, you use the exact same drum kit on many of your songs.... i think you should add more variety to each one of your songs.
anyways still pretty catchy bassline

Wonderful insight haywirehaywire!

Though you may be right about the song being more of a modern joint than an olskool beat, realizing that this is Newgrounds, I really don't think it makes a difference where it goes. If it were up to me, this would go into the Experimental section but there really is none. A lot of people have been giving me the "drum kit" talk and recently, I've hit a point in my creation process where the only drums I want to hear have some maracas and that distinct clap. I'm eventually going to move past this point, I'm sure but the thing is, nothing I submit on Newgrounds is 100% complete. In other words, I don't spend more than a day at most on any one song. Now if I release an album or something of the sort, then it's a different story. I see most, if not all of the tracks I submit as demos so I can get some honest feedback about the song, just like you are going. :)

Thanks for the awesome review!!!
