"Hole in the Ceiling" is a story told primarily through the eyes of a young boy who is imprisoned in a windowless room by his overbearing mother. His only escape is a small hole in the ceiling of this room that allows him to see small remnants of the outside world around him.

The track, "If I Could," takes place after "Space." At this point the boy dreams that the outside world is wonderful place. He discovers that, despite his previous thoughts of space travel, he'd be perfectly happy if he'd simply been able to leave. It's at this point that his want to escape begins to grow expotentially, leading into the track that follows.

Musically, the track is meant to be kind of an upbeat and hopeful song, staying primarily in the D Major key, with only one minor chord through the whole song (B minor). The electric guitar part in the song is meant to be representative of the boys intense urge to escape. The guitar solo in the middle of the song is meant to be a moment where the boy visualizes (or day dreams) himself flying across the world and seeing all the wonders it has to offer.

This is an acoustic version of the song. It contains none of the backing vocals, nor any electric guitar, bass, or drums. Figured I'd give people a taste of what's to come, should they be interested. The full song is still somewhat in the works.

(First Verse)
Here I am stuck in my room all alone
Trapped away, locked away inside my home
How I wish I could see out of these four walls

All I can do is look longingly at the door
Sitting here, staring, sprawled out, 'cross the floor
How I wish I could hear the animals calls

(Bridge)
There's nothing I can see
Out of the ceiling over me
But if I look hard enough
I can make out the diamond in the rough

(Chorus)
If I could fly, I would (yes, I would)
If I could run, I would (yes, I would)
And if I could tell you, I would (yes, I would)
If I could fly
If I could...

(Second Verse)
I know nothing about the outside (as we know it)
And some day I'd love to, just once, go for the ride (just to know it)
How I wish I could breathe the air and bathe in the light

(Bridge)
(Chorus)
(Solo)

(Third Verse)
I've stared up at this hole for so long (and I know it)
At night I hide it away from my mom (I can't show it)
How I wish I could tell her that she was wrong (She's so wrong)
Yes, I wish I could tell her, she was wrong

(Chorus)

No Backups...

I'm going to knock it a star, but only because I expect backup vocals out of you, good sir. This is a good song (though, the non-accoustic version might be a bit better, but seeing as I haven't heard it I can't make that kind of call), and I really hope you finish this album man, because it's been a while since I've seen you put out any more songs for this album. Stop playing music with Gleb, and get back to work, douche. :b

No, kidding, But yeah, the backups, and the twangy solo knocked it down to 9 (4.5/5), but, the vocals are killer, and the whole thing sounds great. Keeps its ups.
