Crawl_Space:
This song was written in the dead of night. I was partly motivated by the desire to create something full, something new and exciting, although I've been patient and rather meticulous with my other project in the works. Crawl_Space was a spur of the moment song. Created in one sitting, one concept, one idea, one moment to give birth to sound. The concept behind the piece? Well, I'd been driving around Perth, this city that is still very unfamiliar to me. I was tired, lost, surrounded by a blur of traffic and night city lights. The music was a dull progressive house beat. The only way to describe the actual feeling would be like my brain was being cleaved neatly in two, but there was no feeling, just a numb afterthought that something strange has been happening.

I also take inspiration from a new electro duo from Sydney, Bag Raiders. Their music is more upbeat and energetic, but their swelling and surging "Indie House" beats have influenced me heavily. I'd probably describe my song as a blend of sameness and strangeness, and while I'm still heavily lethargic, I enjoyed the time I spent making this track. Listen, vote, review, talk to me, tell me what you think, and maybe I'll spend 2009 continuing in the right musical direction.

"Very good."

First of all, l would like to say that you're an awesome artist that always brings new stuff to NG...l added you to my faves.
Now, this track definitely hits its target because it had this dark night driving feeling, you totally got that.
The only negative thing that l can say about this track is that it lacked some variety (you need some variety in a 4:40 track).
Bye for now, l will review more of your stuff soon!

Thanks tank! Much appreciated! Sometimes I get stuck in one particular phase and can't for the life of me add more variety. May come back to this and try, though. Thanks.

Hi Crawl,

Well, the song has a interesting concept with the bass. Its like psytrance but with the typical house bass. Neat idea...here is what I thought.

1) The bass sounds good, but I think it is a bit too overpowering. I also don't think the psytrance bass pattern was the best for this song. It didn't get me dancing as much as if a trance bass were playing it.

2) I think your support high pitch instruments were more as fillers. The composition lacked ingenuity....but then you said you made this in the "spur of the moment". Makes sense why I'm not hearing any diversity to this song.

3) You sparsely put some unique drum patterns in which is a good thing. This song seems to be a drum n bass show rather than a house show.

Overall, you didn't really give me much to critique. The bass plays the same pattern for the entire song and the high pitch instruments don't play a significant role to even bother noticing. However, you made this for fun and I guess that's what counts.

5/5 vote and 9/10 review. Continue making music.

Bye for now

"I can imagine night driving to this"

sounds like driving through a dark city, you know, something that wouldn't be out of place in Need for Speed or a Secret Agent Movie, sounds kinda sneaky
