TURN UP VOLUME. THE MAJORITY OF SONG IS GENTLE AND QUIET.

-A peice designed to empower the listener, and relax the mind.

-I never play the same piece twice. Because i always make it up as i go along, so i can never remember it.

-I have called it the castle because that is the first thing it made me think of. no deep meaning or secret codes or magical metaphors.
It is not about anything complex.
just a castle... simple. minimal. beautiful.

please acknowledge that this was played live. once. so any mistakes make me human, and the peice more organic. maybe lol. (excuses heehee) thank you for listening and please comment :D

LOL! lovely revies as always matey! i am glad you reviewed these pieces. they are my more complex ad more emotional compositions, but no one seems to appreciate them as much as my kids music or voice demos.
I see where your at with the whole "voting" thing. i wouldnt mind being a litle higher on the charts, because these songs dont appear to have had alot of attention. but i can control that anyhows. so god bless right back atya buddy!
and take care!

First reviewer!

So like, when you're famous on here and all that good stuff, you're gonna have to remember I was your first reviewer. Ever.

So yeah.

Anyway, on to the actual reviewing part:

A gorgeous piece. Very strong harmonically and although the melody is not always apparent, the song leaves a strong impression on the listener. My advice for forming melodies is to avoid the piano at all costs. The aim of any type of music aimed to resonate with people is to try and replicate the voice. And, not surprisingly, the best way to do that is with your voice. You don't have to be a great or even decent singer, but you want to get a workable, memorable idea.

Fantastic playing as well. If you made any mistakes, I didn't hear them. And although there are no real flaws with interpretation in this piece, some little things I've picked up on in the short time I've played, just some tips from pianist to pianist.

In terms of reaching a tenderness of expression, I never want any tension in my fingers. I also tend to have more of a stroking finger action, often combined with minimal wrist action, that gives a very understated swell to the dynamics.

As for my favorite parts, I absolutely adore the flourish at about 1:30, and I really like the entire song from the 2:00 point onwards.

The only thing is the sound quality, even though it's not all too bad.

Definitely post more of your music!

Cheers,
MJTTOMB

Stalagmite responds:

horay! lol. my first ever review! heehee. i completely agree on the discreet harmony lol. and the sound quality has not been tweaked at all, and i recorded it from my baby grand straight to the computer, but i have learned my lesson lol. my eardrums are aggravated by the constant volume change!
but i will definately try harder to keep my wrists more relaxed, and i will practice stroking the keys more too. although that is a technique i have considered i never really tried it. after reading your review i listened to the music. and heard it in a completely different way... if that makes sence! lol. i can hear more than before.
thank you so much. wish i could give you a more interesting feedback on your review, but im not very smart lol. thanks so much for listening. and i shall post some of my music soon. :D Ciao mein!
