This piece is just a recording of me messing around at the piano. It was recorded with a cheap digital voice recorder that was too close to the piano, thus the popping noise. Also, the piano was at my school and was pretty old and out of tune.

I liked the idea though and decided to upload it. My playing skills aren't very good, but I hope you enjoy the improvisation. :P

"Beautiful"

date: June 27, 2009

I'm a big admirer of your works and I have to say this sounded beautiful, even with the bad audio recorded. It had an older feel to it, as if it was from a old, dusty record kept away from light for years. The people laughing and talking in the beginning actually fit in with it. This sounds almost like a recollective peice where one would join back up with someone whom they've not seen in years.

Simply beautiful, and your improv is great aswell. If not for the title, I wouldn't have guessed you improved at all.

This piece carries some fond memories with it. It was hilarious when my friend walked in during the middle and started talking. I just about lost my place. XD

Thank you for the wonderful review.

"The audio quality leaves something to be desired.."

but that doesn't stop this song from being absolutely incredible. Improv? It would take YEARS to make such a masterpiece, at least from a normal person.

My dad could improv circles around me, lol. But I'm definitely improving. Thanks for reviewing! :D

"This takes it to a whole other level"

You've taken your music and suddenly made it real. Rather than sounding like something that sounds like a theatrical soundtrack, this feels more like something you'd hear on a streetcorner, and I don't mean this in a bad way. It's still beautifully artful, but the microphone and the background sounds make this song so much more different from your other songs in an interesting way.

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. This is really the essence of my style. It is me at the piano, no computer, no planning, just improv. :)

...Ironically, with the bad recorder and piano, in my opinion, it just gives it some other...'feel' to it. I can't explain it...it's pretty good! Keep up the good work!

Thanks Sam! I think the recording quality kind of adds a level of realism and reinforces the fact that it was made up on the spot. XD

Taking into the account that you had a bad recorder and a bad piano to make this with: This is wonderful.

Could you please do this again, but with a good piano and recorder? :)

Author's Response:

I might redo this on the computer soon. It would be pretty cool. :)
