This is my second entry into the MAC9 this month.

This is probably the only fingerpicked song I have on newgrounds, thats right, no guitar picks were used. I've had this progression floating around my head for an awful long time. As far as I can remember, It did come into existance with my thoughts on a loved one, which is after all what this months contest was all about.
It was good to be able to put this progression to rest as i've had it for so long. I always felt that it sounded a bit classical but I think i've taken it in a more Radiohead direction.
The stuff at the start is the main riff reversed and filtered if you're interested.

"Well..."

Hmm, at the beginning I was expecting more reggae, but o well. At 0:37 the chord progression got a tad awkward. Nice string harmony, but it did get repetitive and the violin didn't work at 1:42. In your eyes was def. the btr of the two. 3.5/5 7/10

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review. The intro was just a bit of filler to just add a bit of ear candy to the peice. I'm not sure what you meant by akward, it's not a pop progression and it's more a classical/progressive chord progression, the technique was taking a chord that was a minor and turning into a majour sus4, which i something you hear a lot more in classical music.

"Great Work"

This is really fantastic music. I like it a lot, but it becomes slightly boring towards the end, because it's just the progression repeating, maybe add in something else like a harmony or something to give the parts a more distinct feel, you did that a little bit towards 1:30 and it sounded more interesting than the rest of the other parts in my opinion. Otherwise very well done, a great piece

great composition. I hear some Muse("Falling with you") inspiration at 0:08 =D. Melody is a bit repetitive though but the strings are a nice addition and give the song some variety.

Author's Response:

Thanks heaps. Yeah I tried to keep this one simple and creating interest is an important musical concept that I learnt in music classes. So i decided to achieve Interest through adding texture (the strings) rather than bringing in lots of new melodies or sections. Plus I had to refrain from adding a typical guitar solo... :P
