*Edit* - There's a tiny gap of silence (Bah!) in between loops. I'll be looking for a work around and updating the track when I get a chance.

This is a song that I've composed for an MMORPG titled Eretz. Information on the game can be found here:

Okay, now on to the song.

This version will not be featured in the game as I wasn't given a specific direction for the track. A more mellow version without the epic drums will be featured in the game to give it the feel that the developer wants. This is the reason I've decided to upload it here before I've finished the other version.

The song was composed for a forest zone. I took the liberty of interpreting, from a screenshot, what I thought would fit best in a musical sense. That being said, I took it the direction of a medieval times with a King Arthur-type flair.

I really liked how it came out; however, because the developer wanted another version, I wanted to upload it. The forest came off as a place of wonder and possibility that holds the opportunity for a hero to develop. Yea, I know that it's rather corny, but that's the feeling I get from it.

This is also the first time I'm uploading something that is intended to loop indefinitely. The way that mp3s are encoded prevents the song from looping correctly (gaps of silence and such), so I'm hoping that NG's flash player will correct that. Hopefully, it will work and I will not have to search for a workaround.

Alright, enough of me rambling, enjoy the track.

Please vote fairly, thanks in advance for any comments!

"Hmm, background music or main theme?"

date: February 24, 2009

Is this song intended to be background music (because it's for a game)? or a theme for a particular instance in the forest? I don't hear a particular theme at all. The song is blatantly uplifting at time to be simply background music for an explorable area, but nothing jumps out at me as representing a main boss or NPC?

Author's Response:

This is definitely meant to be background music for a forest. I know it's a bit uplifting. A boss would definitely denote a different theme, however.

Thanks for the review!

"Very cool."

This is ballsy. I'm glad your work is sought after. The one thing about area-specific songs for games I find a shame is that it means they play so much and the responder is desensitized to it and it loses value, OR it gets stuck in their brain for all eternity. Don't know how yours will go. But I love it.

Thanks for the review! Hopefully it will be the latter. I'd rather have it not forgotten, but who knows.
