I've been watching a lot of great new westerns lately like Appaloosa, 3:10 to Yuma and The Assassination of Jesse James. All of those movies have great imagery and scores and they inspired me to try and make something Western-themed myself. I'm kinda pleased with how it turned out except for the guitar, this is about as close as I can get in trying to imitate a real guitar with my keyboard, but it still doesn't sound quite right :( The title of the song is from a quote from Mr. Sergio Leone.

EDIT: You're going to have to turn the volume up a little, sorry for that. Also, listen to the entire song, it starts of a little slow but it soon picks up.

"Great!"

date: August 17, 2009

Song fits well with its original purpose - that is, western-ey. It has nice visualization, the tone of the song makes it really easy to picture a lonely desert rider, flowing into other moods in excellent transition.

But, as you said, the guitar needs a bit of work - in parts it sounds closer to a piano. A more metallic tone and a (complicated) "sweep" of the notes (to simulate a strum), or a more dramatized one if it is already present.

9/10 for another great piece.

"Nice."

date: January 18, 2009

I like it. It's pretty simple, but has a nice sound to it. It's also a nice change of pace when the drums kick in and it picks up in speed. Only criticism I have is that it seems to start a little slow, but other than that, I like it!
