"Perfect."

date: April 16, 2009

I hate to start a review by making comparisons, but I really do have to agree that this makes me think of Kid A. I hope you take that as a compliment because it is certainly meant as one.
I love the way your songs seem to start so simple and then build up in layers over that. All of the ambient sounding pads work together so harmoniously, and I'd listen to this song time and time over just to hear the melody that starts around 3:39. As per usual, your trademarked style of glitchy percussion does not fail the piece, and the vocals really are the cherry on top of the delicious, layered cake that is this song.
And now I must end this review with a request, please try and incorporate vocals into more of your songs. It really is just lovely.

"Grrr!"

date: January 6, 2009

Damn I wish I had some kind of contraption that would allow me to listen to this while walking outside, because it's really cold and sad in there right now and it fits the mood of this song perfectly.

I'd walk into the woods and visit places.

BUT MOLD DOESN'T GROW IN COLD!

"Wow"

This is quite amazing. At first I thought it was gunna be similar to a kingbastard style acoustic-electronic song.

I love that pad, very simple and perfect. I like using chords like that. I really want to know how you did those vocals. They're amazing. Reminds me of Radiohead on the Kid A album. Is it just layered?

The whole song is really layered. There is a ton of stuff going. I could listen to this over and over and find something new to marvel at each time.

Thanks for the review, man. You've got some awesome stuff.

Yeah, I love simplicity in pads. I also like taking something minimal and making it part of something much bigger.

The vocals: What you're hearing is a vocoder. I recorded myself singing the lyrics and added some chorus and distortion to that. The carrier is a simple 3xOsc saw-triangle-saw with no effects on it. I kept the modulator quite dry because I wanted to hear my native voice in the vox. On the vocoder, I played with the form a little bit so that it sounds like I'm singing with someone who has a higher voice, and the only effect on that channel is dblue glitch which was used for slight distortion, bitcrushing, retriggering, stretching, and slowdown.

I like being compared to Radiohead :D

Thanks again for dropping a review. I appreciate it. Glad you liked.
