A good old crunchy guitar driven instrumental metal song. Admittedly sort of wanky sounding, featuring not one, not two but four guitar solos! Not a parody, just tongue in cheek.

There is a story of sorts to this song... It concerns an unwitting man who purchases a bowl from a street market, unaware that it is in fact made out of a human skull! Also, it happens to be possessed by a malevolent spirit which escapes from the bowl after he uses it to eat his breakfast cereal.

The creature grabs the man's guitar and proceeds to play a bad ass guitar solo (heard at 1:00). Eventually the man vanquishes the spirit by some inventive means... Typically though the creature makes a comeback at the end, maybe a homeless person picks up the bowl after it's thrown out the window, I don't know...

I'd love to see someone make a flash movie based around this theme, although due to my incredibly new status I doubt many people will read this...

UPDATE: I've added an improved drum track and tweaked a few things here and there, thanks everyone who gave me pointers on this.

Cool!

I like this one; it's really good, in a weird way.
The production could definitely use some work, especially the drums, but the riffs and structure are awesome.
As far as improving the drums, I think the main thing to do would be turn down the cymbols (as in, way down), and then crank the whole drum track up, so more kick and snare comes through.
Guitars... yeah, definitely need some EQ work going on there.
Try bumping around 400Hz up by about 5 dB, and see what that gives you, then go from there.
Great song, keep up the good work. I look forward to hearing more from you.

Thanks for the review and thanks for tips. I've tweaked it a bit and added a new drum track. It's still not perfect but I'm done fiddling. This has been a good learning experience.

What the fuck?

Sounds like Beelzeboss by Tenacious D.

JohnLimeson responds:

Ha, it does a little bit. I hadn't even heard that song back when I recorded this though.

Sweet transitions!

This was awesome dude. Glad to see a new face on the heavy section.
The overall idea was quite sweet.
The clean solo kicked ass.
The only downers in this song is the drums and the last solo.
Try to get urself some VST:i drums. The guitar also sounds a bit unmixed.
You should try to EQ it out of the current setup so you hear it more , and add a bit warmth to it.
Other then that , kick ass.
Really not bad for a first timer ;)

JohnLimeson responds:

Thanks for the review. Yeah it's pretty rough around the edges, I am aware the drums are rubbish, thanks for the tip I'll look into that. The last solo is a little unconventional I'll admit but I still kinda like it, it's my bro playing anyway, the rest is all me.
