Now, this was always my true favorite song from Chrono Trigger, and i believe a very overlooked one. What made me want to transcribe this one was actually fucking around with the midi files in PRESTO [old program i know but it does the job] and just screwing around with the midis.

THe transcription was all done in FL Studio 8.0.1 and 5 out of the 6 channels are 3xOsc, very basic synths to give it "that sound" I love so much... the transcription was a little pain in the ass because there was a few parts I had trouble making. I spent a couple of days on it, but it was worth it to me. Now, because its a TRANSCRIPTION, it is as close to the original as it can get. For those of you who dont know what a transcription is, look it up on google and youll see..........

Now, about the channels:

Channel 1 is the arpish synth i used, It is comprised of a Dual Saw wave with a Square wave one octave above and a slight attack on the envelope. The echo you hear is not delay, but rather a second set of notes played 3 steps later at half volume.
Channels 2 and 3 are the melodys. They are composed of a Tri-Saw [all at different octaves]. 2 has an envelope that makes it like a pluck to emulate that of a piano instrument, and 3 has no envelope, just straight up saw synth
Channel 4 is the Triange organ, which i decided to make soft for obvious reasons...
Channel 5 would be the bass, comprised of a Saw wave on the same octave as a Triangle, and a square on the octave above, this creates a strong and sturdy bass with a good range for 8-bit music.
Channel 6......... i kinda cheated with... Because i hate volume leveling so much... i ripped it from the midi and used a T4GM soundfont on patch 129 [usually drums in a GM soundfont].
Effects were just Simple reverb at half volume on the master channel, and a limiter to keep the bass from blowing out my headphoes XD.

I know that this is not a TRUE 8 bit piece because the maximum number of sounds exeeds 40 even... but i couldnt sacrifice the sounds.... And sorry NG, no full quality Awesome crystal clear sound version for you, far too big, if you wish, you may PM me for it.

Please do enjoy

Awesome

It's just... Wow, orgasmic. Everything blends extremely well. It should really be in a game. It sounds like something that would be majorly popular if it were in a game.

Orion928 responds:

ever play chrono trigger?
