Gonna start uploading a few of my quasi-8-bit pieces since NG likes that sort of thing. I say Quasi because they don't really adhere to 8 bit limitations (e.g. 4 note polyphony, low low sample rates etc.) Oh and they're not actually made on 8 bit hardware, just standard DAWs with 8 bit synth emulations.
I don't use ANY effects on ANY of these pieces, though. So they're still *fairly* true to original 8 bit composition. Truer than these people using mountains of spatial effects and dynamic processors and still calling their crap 8 bit, anyway.
This one is called: Lumbering Giant
This one is from late 2005/early 2006. I remember little of the original source file which was lost in a HDD crash but from what I can hear the only thing that makes this quasi-8 bit instead of true 8 bit is the fact it was made with 32 bit software. I like the big note flourish at the beginning which resembles a random encounter. The melody starts of sort of latin and turns a bit neo-classical before returning to the original feel. Quite happy with this one, despite its age.
