Ok, this was (mostly) done by ear, just a couple of chords needed some sheet music for, but otherwise, this is all ear work. I really like this, it took some time to get everything (including panning) from the original, and then transpose it and include a string orchestra, a Bandoneon, an Ocarina and an Accordian. This is one of my all time favourite game tracks, and I think OOT would have been incredible if it were only orchestrated more realistically (not that it isn't already incredible). Anyway, enough chat, sit back and enjoy the 2:27 minute ride.

If theres one thing I would comment on, it's that I think I really need a better string orchestra soundfont, so if anyone can direct me to a realistic .sf2 string orchestra soundfont that uses each instrument separately and is free, please do. I'm afraid this is only a secondary hobby, so I am not prepared to spend vast amounts of cash on it.

"Good song"

I've got one tip in case you ever try this again. When all those instruments come in, put some sort of low brass (tuba, trombone) to sort of anchor it. It will sound fuller

"Good, but you can do better."

I understand that the first minute of the song is supposed to be subtle, but a hint of bass is still required. Even when you change to the forte dynamic, you lack powerful bass. The Windmill emulates the Storm Song, which embodies Storm clouds, which embodies thunder. Thunder has bass. Ergo, your piece, beautiful as it is, has no source of energy. It sorta sounds like you're listening to a song played in stereo, but you're missing a speaker. I suggest using a cello or louder double bass as your background.

As for the elevator music comment, I really don't see how that fits at all. Jeep up the good work!

this fits well as elevator music at first

btw, its called song of storms

Author's Response:

There is a distinction between the Song of Storms and The Windmill Hut. The Windmill Hut is the name of the track used inside the Windmill Hut in OOT, the Song of Storms is the name of the base melody.

"A grand melody."

This was my favorite song from OOT. I just love listening to a good remix of a great song. This is one of my favorites though. I love how you mixed it up a little.
