Here's a song with a major story behind it. :-D

When I was growing up, a lot of musical influences came from the music my parents listened to. We're talking bands like The Moody Blues, U2, The Outfield, ..and on and on. But another major influence in myself becoming a composer was my father. Dad played piano, but mostly he'd pull out his acoustic after coming home from work and sit out on the couch and play. As a kid I used to just lay out on the carpet while listening to his playing, and one song in particular always caught my interest. It was a song he wrote called "Coming Home", and it was a spiritual tune about longing to be with our Father in heaven.

Fast forward about maybe 15 years later when I'm in Audio Engineering school trying desperately to find a guitar player/singer for my recording project. For some reason Dad's song kept playing in my head, so I convinced him to drive up to my school and let me record him playing his nylon guitar and voice to his song he wrote back when I was 6 or 7 years old. It was a great day, and after I had mixed it down completely in the studio, I took the master back to my dorm.

I always knew that if I could get a chance, I'd want to redo the music as an instrumental. I knew I wanted there to be a piano and violin accompaniment to Dad's guitar playing, so I sampled his nylon pickings and created...well...this. This is my tribute to my father's original simple acoustic guitar solo.

The beginning includes my dad's voice counting down into his mic before he began playing. I also mixed in the original recording at the end of him singing just to pay tribute to his original song further. The record "pop" you hear before his voice kicks in is on purpose. It's supposed to sound like an old recording kicking in on a record player as his voice appears to sing from a distance as it fades away.

Enjoy :-D

sigh...perfect. (as always.)

Somehow, This song reminds me vividly of the Theme song of the comedy "Friends". However, I am sure that is just coincidence, for someone of your talent wouldn't copy another song for yours.
Keep it up, but I don't really need to tell you that, because, as always, you already are.

Wow and again Wow!!

When I was in College I really was into the whole series of the Moody Blues, in fact I have all of their original vinyl 33's. Just to preserve them I transferred everything to CD's using a program called Ripvinyl. Works great. Not sure if it is still available, but you could always search for it. Really appreciate the background that you give for each of your pieces. It really lets me see into your work. Love this piece and the notes give me an even deeper appreciation for it, I too have some special things I keep from my Dad a,d when I think about them it sort of brings him back for a while. You truly have a gift, Thank you for sharing it.

Okay. I love you and hate you.

I love because this is the most beautiful music ever and I hate you because you just made this 19 year old guy cry. MAKE A CD. You have to have a record deal by now or something. Your musical talent is astounding.

WOW! Wow! Wow!

What more can I say, wow! I mean it has an amazing intro and just when you think you know what's going to happen the beat comes in and lifts you a million miles into space! Then you're flying, no floating and it takes you on an amazing ride before Coming home

Cool

Here I am, browsing around. To tell the truth I was searching around for your "Champions Green" piece and noticed that it wasn't on my iPod any longer so I decided to bounce on over here and redownload it. I went straight to your page as it was the easiest thing to do and, for whatever reason, I decide to look around some and I locate this song. I never noticed it before and now I am beating myself up for never seeing it. Fantastic piece this, its not often something makes me want to just get up and do something, anything with whatever talent I have. So, because I heard this, I think I will take up guitar and especially piano again...its been quite some time but I hope to one day be able to do something even remotely like this.

Fantastic work as always, though this time I believe you may have outdone yourself. Irony here is it is an earlier piece.
