I got some commentary from some of my friends that they find the intro too long. If you find that too, please review and say that and I'd probably edit it, if not, please review and say that you not find the intro too long^^

I played the piano by myself most of the parts and then quantized some pieces of that. The rest was made in piano roll. I've had a lot of work making this song, so don't be too harsh please :) I used reason 4 with reason pianos and some other packs.

Enjoy, if you can/want....

[EDIT] small edit in the bass at 3:04 and in the piano sound [EDIT]

"Hmm."

It was okay.
NG kept recommending it to me so I finally listened.
Unfortunately, I'm not blown away, but I'm not sickened either.
Either or, it was a nice piece and you did a good job on it, it just wasn't my total style.

"... I like."

Once again, excellent work here! The entire piece just flows with itself just as it would if it were an organic entity. I love the effects you've put into this, too. They bring the whole thing to life.

As for the intro, I really disagree on the whole "It's too long" thing. It's not. This is an ambient song, no questions asked. If you listen to any professional artists who make ambient music like this, you would find that the intro here is actually very well timed. There's a certain feel in ambient songs that make them seem to grow just as a plant would. The introduction has to feel that way, too - making it any shorter than it is might twist that whole concept here.

All in all, my opinion here is...
5/5, 10/10, DL. Fantastic.

wonderful review, again! Thanks for the compliments.

About the length of the intro, I agree with you. (I like the plant example ;))

Yeah I guess I'd say the intro is a bit long, but my attention span might just getting shorter. Other than that, great stuff!

"Excellent"

It's really good I actually like the long build up. Makes it more dramatic.

"My first NG review"

date: January 7, 2009

Nice sounding piece. I don't think the introduction is too long, especially if you made the song a bit longer ( I know NG has a filesize limit). A few suggestions for what they are worth: I'd put a "classic" 3-step delay on some of the piano and synth parts in the middle section where I assume you are going for a trance-like feel. Also the drum kit sounds a bit default, I'd replace the samples or throw some effects on the drum samples. The ending sounds a bit abrupt but easily remedied. I really enjoy the intro and its simplicity and emptiness and how it builds.

A note about my ratings: I am rating based on other NG songs I have heard, since I don't think it's fair to compare amateur artists, most of whom are still pretty young, to professionals, so a 10 doesn't necessarily mean you are Mozart.

Author's Response:

well, welcome at newgrounds. Thanks for the suggestions but I wasn't going for trance really. I was going for ambient and I didn't feel like making the drums random, but yea, that could be another song (check my other post of piano echoes). There is classic 3-step delay on the piano though... And your rating is quite harsh if you figure out that 95% of the songs posted here is crap... lol. Ah well, I guess you listened to the best ever and top 5 songs XD.
