Author Comments

The title of this song is somewhat sarcastic. It is a love song, yet it is not "blatant", which implies that it is simplistic and to the point. This is a complex and introspective love song, containing complex tonalities and modified modalities that create a very different sound. This piece is stylistically different from most of my work, as I attempted to think outside the box in writing this piece. It is very close to me and I hope you enjoy it too.

you have a obvious understanding of the art of music. i write but i am self tought. so when you wrote those reviews about something about "Mixolydian" and stuff.. i didnt know what you were talking about! but i LOVE your stuff! it sound kinda old school if you know what i mean. like almost like Bach or Beethoven sounding. i personally dont go for that style as i once had a dream of being a film scorer. so i guess thats why our styles are different. so to make this review long! good job keep them coming!

Author's Response:

Thanks for the review, I don't get very many.

If you think sounds like Bach or Beethoven, you better listen to some more Bach and Beethoven! I suppose on the surface, melodically, it can sound somewhat conventional. If you listen to the chords and dissonances, it sounds not much like those two. I suppose what you mean to say is that this isn't mainstream and definitely isn't good background music. It's definitely classical music, in other words. You are right, though, in that our styles are quite different. Film scoring has particular trends and common elements that I haven't been able to completely grasp yet, though I'm working on something right now to try and capture the sound of a film score. Hopefully you'll like that one as well.

This piece is being performed next month, and I'll be posting the recording of the performance when I get it. Thanks for the review!
