One of the reasons
Yes, this is one of the reasons I follow your band. This song. It's a good reason I think.
I really like your music, Set Your Goals, but I like your lyrics so much more. They have meant so much to me in the short while I have been following your journey through music. They are some what reiteration of what I have felt in the past, and do feel even now.
It's so nice to hear a song about control. Or maybe it's just me, but I think this song goes beyond its literal meaning of simply overthrowing government. To me this song applies to any form of power. It brings out the question of, "What does it mean to have power?" which by itself is a simple question, but at the same time you ask, "why do we allow ourselves to be bound by power" and in this process force the listener to question deeper, not what it is to have power but why it is to have power. From there you get into the age old idea that "just because it is, does not mean it should." Oh yeah, and that's when the minnows take down the sharks.
I like your use of personified characters too. Those sharks man, a representation of pure stregnth but no brain power. Superior, you are inferior! Nice rhyme.
Anyway, I can't get into an intense analysis with just a review, but I would just like to clarify how much time I spend determining the meaning in your work. Thank you for setting your goals.
