I originally mixed this for the Squaresound remix contest in early 2008, which essentially had people remixing any Uematsu tune for the shot at VIP tickets to a Distant Worlds concert in Chicago. I was honored to have actually won the contest! The show was great :)

Anyway, about the mix - I really used everything but the kitchen sink here. Guitars, hip hop drums, lots of synths, anvils, orchestral instruments, and everything in between. Besides the Devil's Lab theme, there's some Kefka and Umaro thrown in there too for good measure. I had an absolute blast making this, particularly the last 1/3 or so (almost all of which was done a few hours before the contest deadline.)

Simply amazing.

Holy! This is my new negrounds favorite! How did this get lost in the mix? This deserves to be at the top of the video game portal. Truely amazing work my friend. Something for me to aspire to for sure. Thanks for the treat.

One of the best I've heard in a while, as in a TRUE remix :)
I really enjoyed it. Can't complain about anything 'cept I can't do things like this D:

Definitely speaks to zircon's talent

Wow, a great almost dance/big-beat groove, then fused with orchestral. Definitely very creative while clearly keeping the source melody intact. Nice pizz strings midway through. Despite the amount of textural changes, everything flowed fairly naturally. The drop-off at 2:02 almost felt like a total mistake until 2:12 beefed things up. Creativity, lots of technique to be sure, and the cohesiveness of the instrumentation definitely gets some personal tilt. It was a risky direction, but successfully pulled off.
