Updated 9/20: Finished!
It's a nice change of pace for me, and was an instance of my friend wrote some lyrics, I wrote music to those lyrics, and then we sat down and got the vocals worked out. I'm more than happy with how this has turned out.

You did a great job with this song, lyrics are solid, and the instruments back up the voice so well accompanied by strong verse structures. I am starting to step into the field of writing lyrics for my music and recording them. so it is real nice to hear songs like this from other artists to help inspire me.

So is most of this played by hand, or is it created by program?
I'd like to see more bass.
It might also be interesting if you threw in a cool varied instumental solo later in the piece to lead up to a final chorus. Better maybe two insturmental solos, in different places (piano and guitar). Just an idea.
Btw your friend has a pretty cute voice.

It's really a mix; I'm playing the piano, I'm playing what bass guitar is in there, I'm playing guitar, and there's an external synth (which I play) and an external drum machine (which I just need to program). The rest is software synth stuff, which I simply needed to make a cool sound for and then compose.
I think it might be interesting if there were some more instrumental parts, too...
