Author's Response:
Here is what I will tell you Kevan.
When you hear a song, a general listener will listen to a song and notice that a lot of things are going on. This can make them think that the song was difficult to make, but in truth, you make each element step-by-step. I made the drums first, once you have a drum beat, you can start to create a melody to the rhythm of the drums. In this case, I used Boo Bass and did something different with it, instead of just prolonging the bass notes, I shortened each note down to make the bass feel like its bouncing. I created a riff with the bass. I could keep this rhythm looping, playing in repeat over and over again and then I can play around in the piano roll and improvise a suitable riff/melody sound that fits with this rhythm.
When I make beats, its usually sporadic and I will go with the general feel of what I like, nothing is really pre-planned, its just you have to play around, enjoy creating different variations and sounds.
