First off.. to really enjoy this... a subwoofer brings it to life. =]

I was listening to this song a few months back.. right after hearing a lot of Pendulum's new stuff.. and got to thinking.. you know what would really kick ass?..

A DnB remix of Feel Good Inc.

So right then.. I started to draft it up inside my head, and here.. a few months later, after progressing a bit more in my music making... here it is!

I had a lot of cool ideas with this.. one you may notice is that I psuedo-sidechained the bass and synth off of my breakbeat.. so it gives it a rhythmic feel.. and a bit of extra dynamics. I did some real careful glitch work, adjusting the glitch level via automation at an interval of every half-step.

Combine that with some interesting FX chains.. and.. I'd say it's probably my best track yet!

Rate, Review, and Enjoy! =D

"Epic Song"

date: November 11, 2009

I love The Drums, and Beats that flow throughly in this song. I don't really mind about the vocals being off track...its a pretty decent remix. 10 stars \m/

"Way Too Fast!"

date: October 26, 2009

I'm sorry, but the song is WAY too fast for me.
I like the whole "Windmill" chorus, ONLY because it make me relax,
and when you go and speed it up 3x faster, it loses that effect, it instead makes a tense feeling, not what I was hoping for, but I appreciate the effort, so...

What can I say, sometimes you have to get up to get down.

And by up.. I'd say about 30 bpm. Gotta get into that 2-step grooooove.

"Its great"

date: August 21, 2009

On some of the parts of the songs the voacal track is off.

Author's Response:

Yeh. I'd consider messing with it, but I lost the project file for this song when my production pc was stolen. Meh.

And life goes on. I should probably work on some new stuff though.

"Clearly Amateur"

date: August 20, 2009

I'll throw a head nod your way for the fx and chopping on the vox. The punchy bass was dreadful though and the vox overlapped and threw me off as a listener some times. The drums were not well thought out at all, it just sounded like something that was thrown in the song because they are supposed to be in songs. With that being said you need to find a way to create some type of rhythm in the song. levels on the vocals were inconsistent and annoying. Did you check into the copyright of this? because I am pretty sure that these vocals are under a pretty clear copyright. Pretty good idea just not thought out clearly.

Author's Response:

And with a pinch of salt.

I disagree with the bass, I'd do it differently now if I was going to, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it dreadful. It's relatively standard with the genre.

As for percussion.. meh. Standard two step with a bit of variation and glitch.

Vox levels? They don't change much. Check your headphones/speaker connects.

And copyright, it was an acapella released online. Not something I personally ripped. If they (Gorillaz) decided to complain, it could be easily removed. It's also non-commercial use, so it's very unlikely to be a problem in the first place.

I appreciate the review in the manner that it isn't like most of the other 200+ reviews stating "ZOMG THIS IS AMAIZGNN MAEK MOAR!!!111!1", but you don't really do much to suggest improvement, so really.. it just comes off as a bitchrant. It would be more productive to point people towards ways to do things better if you're going to bother reviewing their works.
