My best friend and I had developed the idea for "The Adventures of Hoshima" over the course of 4 years, yet I have never successfully finished creating anything of it except for a small score of short pieces, some of which you've already heard.

Some previously submitted pieces from the Hoshima score are:
- "Look We're Flying"
- "I Feel So Alone"
- "Gooood Morning"

This was a piano representation of Kounnosuke's theme. He is one of the 3 main characters, but the central character involved in the story. He is tormented by his father's death and led with a need for vengeance.

Although this story takes place in a very odd kind of earth and in the late 1930's (from my Indiana Jones inspiration), I wanted the music to portray what we all remember good anime to be; serious but cartoonish.

The story to Hoshima itself is rather unique in its own right, in that it's in the sci-fi/fantasy comedy adventure genre. It was meant to feel like you are watching a mix between Indiana Jones and Galaxy Quest. I have planned for the longest time to do a flash animated series of it, but I have yet to get enough time to dedicate to it, let alone get voice actors for it.

Author's Response:

Hoshima is definitely in the grand to-do list of life. The first animation project that I'm currently writing (on page 107 as I write this) is Children of the Sky which is kinda my "pet project". Brian Buyea, co-creator of Hoshima, had actually started writing some of Hoshima, but I believe he's received a commission from elsewhere, so if all else fails, I'll probably pick up where he left off.

I'm glad you enjoyed the piece. Thanks for the input.

Author's Response:

I actually had a 40-minute demo of the game that was going to use this piece, but I never got to the part where this particular piece came in.

It was an RPG Maker XP game titled "The Adventures of Hoshima". Although I'm writing a screenplay for "Children of the Sky", and will probably dedicate the next few years making it, I hope to be able to do an animated film (or series, depending on how the writing goes) of Hoshima, since it is one of mine and Brian Buyea's more "Fun" stories.

This is absolutely amazing! It almost makes me cry, something that would have gone in a Zelda game or something :'D

How much would it cost to have you make a loop or two like this for a videogame?
can you pm me about it so I don't advertise on my review >.>

"Great music!"

date: December 16, 2008

I'm rather new to this scene; I saw your name in the credits for the Hero of Time movie. Music composer is the first name I look at in a movie. I've checked out all your music, and I'm really impressed with your work. You really have a wide range of styles, which is something that should command immediate respect. Anyone who can cover a large variety is one hell of a composer in my book.
I have a question, though. What exactly do you use to do your classical recordings? What program, equipment, etc. I'm somewhat of an aspiring composer, and I'd like some advice from someone who's been there.
Your music sounds like a high quality synthesizer is used, and your arrangements make use of few instruments, but never fail to sound any less full. I am eager to see where you take your classical styles, as well as rock and pop styles.
