Author Comments

First off, this song is also a bit of an experiment (like all of my songs.) However, this one was a bit different- after the comments on Finale about the song sounding a bit dry, I decided I'd try and find some solution to that problem.

I think I have. For this song, instead of completely mastering it in Reason, I split it into a multitrack, loaded those into FL, and mastered from there. Why? Simply because I know how to master better in FL- there are a few VSTs I've become very familiar with, and Reason's mastering suite is slightly limiting.

Anyways, there you have it. My July MAC submission for Sorrowed Tears.

Vote for me. I haven't even placed in a single MAC yet- it's really kind of sad. :D

GUILT TRIP GUILT TRIP GUILT TRIP

... is it working?

Anyway.

Whenever I listen to this song, I imagine someone standing outside of a building of some type, by a cobblestone road, while it rains. The road turns into a bridge at the next intersection, crossing over a Venetian canal.

That's just my image, though. What's yours?

"2:24..."

date: August 30, 2008

Was amazing, that kinda powerful transition. I really like the piano as well. The deeper strings were also a favorite. It wasn't really a sad song, more depressing then anything, but 2:24 really hit the emotion on you, wow.

-I see this as a hard time in the city, more people in the streets, looking for money, food, but those who actually have something could care less and walk by the less fortunate like these people aren't even there. At 2:24, I see that maybe one of these people might get a job, get a house with it, but then is turned down, and the man or whoever walks away saddened. At the end, he might die? He's an old man, so he probably had a heart attack and fell onto the ground. I can see that he might have fell on cobblestone while it was raining, and just died.

Author's Response:

The climax, mixed with the return to the original piano score.

I had no trouble at all with deciding on how to end the song. :D

"-for the love of.."

ARGH!! I can't take it anymore!! al these songs sound the exact same god dammit!! It wasnt very sad anyway.. Ok thats my review for the Mac o8 contest.. Here is the review for the song:

The sounds got way to overpowering there for a while, but the beginning was terrific. I liked the way you composed it and the good violins and percussion noises. Sometimes, however, the song kind of hurt my ears.

Author's Response:

I doubt they all sound the same, but what the hell.

Anyways, glad you liked the beginning, oboe ftw. :D

A pretty song.
I really love the parts when the piano is playing.
You managed a great mix of instruments which work very well together.
The sound is sad and very good. It reminds me a bit to an other song which I don't know the title of right now.
Very well done Lunes!

"Good luck with the MAC :)"

date: July 24, 2008

This is quite beautiful. The piano especially does a nice job of conveying that sad feeling, along with the stringed instruments. The bells were nice, and I also liked the winds. The melody was very mournful and calming. I must say that I liked the section starting at 1:17. The chord progression there was one which I really enjoyed.

I don't have much more to say other than job well done! That, and the ending was too out of place. That last chord was more evil than sad. It left me with a predominantly sinister vibe. O_o...I think you have a chance at placing in the MAC with this one. It certainly beats my little piano submission. :P

I look forward to more excellent music from you,
~Blaze

Author's Response:

The part at 1:17 and past was something I'm very proud of, it's really complex.

It took me the better part of two days. :D
