This song is for the MAC8 contest Sorrowed Tears. I wanted to stay away from the norm with this one and also show that I can do more then just Trance. It was hard as hell to give this song a genre but I went with Classical because most of the instruments are from that area.

This song is the darker side of sorrow. When making this song I didn't have the intention of making you cry I wanted to get a different, darker idea of sorrow. The way I like to describe the song is; Your watching your life go by in some way or fashion and you realize that all your life you have contributed nothing giving into this empty feeling of sorrow. When the song is closer to finishing and peaks you have a revelation (whatever it may be) giving it a more positive idea.

To sum it up in a few words.... You can live in grief all you want but you always have the power to change it and make life better.

If you'd like to tell me what you got out of this song in a review I'd be glad to read it. Also please don't score based on the genre I put it in, though I will take suggestions on moving it to another genre.

"pretty good..."

date: March 28, 2009

i personally think that the drums, which were good, overpowered the piano at the start of the song. the same for the other effects up until about halfway through the song, they all seem to mask the piano and strings.

other than that its a great piece of work.

making a depressing song doesnt just involve minor piano and strings I am afraid - also the glitch ruined the atmosphere. Lillium is sad - doesnt have to be depressing - it just has to invoke within you a profound sense of loss. And I am just not feeling it in this one - it seems to be struggling with itself in what it is it want to be.

Good attempt though.

"Powerful."

Piano is emotion-evoking - it can be happy or deeply somber. Therefore, great choice keeping with the piano. The electronic sounds are a really great touch; they don't interfere, but add interest. I love the dramatic turn-around @ 3 min., and the song as a whole is well-balanced. This is probably one of my favorite pieces from you.

Wow, great job on this one. It's difficult to believe that your prominent genre isn't this one because you really did a great job on this song.

First off, the drums: holy crap nice.

I do agree that the buildup was a bit long but it worked well for me. The choice of pads/strings you used really fit the song and the piano pulled everything together.

At 2:45, wow everything got 10x better. I was really amazed. The theme you've got going and have described for the song really showed through and you just nailed it in the end.

I think you should shorten the intro a tad and this would be really epic. I also think you should put a sweet (a bit more complicated) piano riff in the end buildup.

Great song, fav'd, and good luck in the competition!

Author's Response:

Well on the note of the long intro I wanted to give it a bit of length to convey more of time passing by and nothing amazing happening in your life. Then at 2:45 everything takes a turn and well if I kept this sound through out the sound it wouldn't convey sorrow as much as it did earlier on.

Thank you for the review.
