So this is my second submission to the site, my first one got largely overlooked I think. This is one of those songs where you're writing it and have no clue where to go with it...So I just went somewhere. Hopefully somewhere appeals to the listeners! Anyway please let me know what you think. Take the time to write a short review too. I'm new to writing so advice is greatly appreciated!

Love the tune, but i guess you made this one before you learned about mastering, i just learned it and it really does wonders! but as said the tunes are very cool, but maybe dl some new vst plugins for your drums? i really like your music:) keep it up^^

Author's Response:

you are right, I did make this before I learned about mastering...and to tell the truth I still dont know what mastering is or how to do it, lol. If you have some free time, maybe send me a PM explaining what it is and how to do it? that would help me a lot Im sure because most of the criticism I get has to do with how poorly mastered my songs are ha ha. thanks for the review!

"Good construction, not so great mastering."

date: June 23, 2008

You did very well with the melodies and sound choice here, good job with the way you've made the song progress.

My only problem is that everyting is REALLY FUCKING LOUD D:

Some of the cooler parts get drowned out at some points, and at others are too over-blaring to enjoy sometimes.

Great song otherwise though! 4/5 6/10

Author's Response:

Hey there, thanks for the listen! The loudness of things seems to be everyone's main problem with this piece. I'll have to work on that for future submissions. Thanks again for the advice!

"Cool"

Me liked. Although there was some melodic friction as Viros has already said, I think you just need more variation on it. For example kicking up the melody another octave at 00:40 and then bringing it down to normal once the bells/mallet percussion part ends (bells are not necessarily part of the melody).

Awesome! Thanks for the review and I'm glad you liked it. I appreciate the advice as well!

"Firm, soft and bumpy, like a good pair of b- um..."

date: June 19, 2008

For being new to writing, you've certainly done well with the Author Comment!

Oh, you meant SONG writing. Well then!

Personally, it feels a little too "bumpy" in places (1:44, for instance), but otherwise, it is pretty good for being a newer piece.

I would like to hear the background a little bit more. I didn't even notice it until the third or fourth loop (except at the soft spot at 0:53 and 1:44, where I thought it was exclusive to those sections, and at the end).

Quite enjoyable, though. I definitely look forward to hearing more by you.

Author's Response:

Im happy to hear your opinions and you give some good advice too, Thanks! I definetely agree that the background is a bit too soft, the review below this one said the melody was too loud, so it all makes sense. I really hope to improve after all this and I can promise you I'll be submitting more stuff in the future. BTW, I wrote one other track that hasn't really been looked at and I fear never will again, so if you get a minute, check that one out too. Thanks again!

"You got talent"

by: Viros
date: June 19, 2008

Yeah, tracks getting overlooked in the audio portal is a pretty common occurrence - 17 votes here, 23 votes here.

Wouldn't be surprised if there are twice the audio tracks than flash submissions, and they (the audio) get half as many views...

Overall this is pretty cool, though i have a few critiques...

The melody is a little high-pitched for me, but that's me, the melody is really good, the notes are fine, just really high to me, i imagine this in a club and my ears would be hurting - but what else would happen at a club anyway?

Some notes on points in the track:

at 00:43 there is some melodic clashing, and again at 1:36 - it kinda works, but it just sounds...off.

i like the bass line and the beat, both very nice and the bass track mixes well with the rest.

Overall, really good track, sowing some immense skill there and understanding of how this whole music thing works.

What sequencer do you use?

June 19, 2008

Author's Response:

Finally, someone that can give some good advice and take the time to listen to the whole song. I gotta thank you for that! I see what you mean about the melody being high pitched, I was thinking the same thing when I finished it. Im still experimenting with FL Studio, which is what I used to make this, so in the future I hope to be able to figure out how to tone down the melody as you said and improve overall. Thanks again for the review!!
