The opening is engaging, but not great by any means. Then it drops off to near nothing, which is kinda boring. When it kicks back in it sounds alright, but never really hits that intensity that I'm looking for.
Couple things technically:
I'm getting the thump of the bass and kick WAY too much in certain areas. It is when they are used in conjunction. Simply too much for the song, because it is getting in the way of the rest of the song.
Try EQ'ing the kick to have a slightly higher, and punchier sound. More like an AK-47 sound. Because in metal it really isn't about how low the kick sounds, but how tight and punchy it is. EQ'ing and compressing will help that out.
As for the bass, lower the low gain, and raise the high gain slightly. That should help keep it and the kick from overpowering everything.
As for the guitars, I don't mind the sound. But I don't love it either. Maybe find a heavier type of distortion for the main riffs. Because they really don't grab ya by the balls the way metal riffs should.
But all in all this was nicely written, considering it is so short. Expand this man, cause it is WAY to short. I'll give ya a 2.5/5 and 5/10, because there is a lot of improvement to be made here. (Since I can't vote 2.5, I voted 3. But I think it is deserving of being around the 2.5 range when it comes to score.) I think this could turn into something really good if you put the work into it. Nice job!

Author's Response:
Sorry if this song didn't meet your heavy metal expectations. I'll try to better myself according to your advice. Try listening to Forgotten Hope. It's my second most recent heavy metal submission, and I like it a lot better than this one, although they are similar.
