NOTE: Just a quick heads up! You may have to turn up the volume a bit on this one. It is a bit on the quiet side (Unless my speakers are simply terrible and/or broken).

Before someone inevitably asks, the answer is no; this is not Naruto. It isn't related to the song "Sadness and Sorrow" on Naruto, nor did I even watch the anime at the time I wrote this. That is a great song, but this is completely unrelated aside from the coincidental sharing of titles. :P

Now that we've got that out of the way, on to the actual commentary. I wrote this piece long ago, and I've come a long way musically since then. However, I have received several requests to remake this song. I've added a VERY simple intro, a nicer piano soundfont, some strings, and I've tweaked the volume in a few spots. I think it sounds a lot better, but you can compare if you'd like.

Anyhow, I look forward to your comments! I would love to know your opinion, how I might improve this, or even what you imagine as you listen to this music. I read and respond to every review, so don't shy away! XD

Thanks in advance, and enjoy. :)

PS. I really need a decent strings sample for free. I have been using the string soundfont that comes with the FL Studio demo, but I can't stand it anymore. Know of any good samples for free?

I'm sure it wasn't your intention, but....

... I actually find it as inspiring. Not in like a creative way, but more on a purely personal level. I hear this, and I envision someone trying to defeat the darkness within themselves. Trying to overcome the evils that lay within them, and coming to terms with what they've done to others and can do nothing more than try to make up for it, all the while being taken over by sadness and regret. To me, it's a reminder. All that one can do badly to others will haunt them, and there's nothing you can do to fix it. It.... reminds me to bare my crosses and hold them dearly, for if I carry them to the end, one day, I might make everything better. Good work my friend.

Your words inspire me greatly. I have recently gone through some trials in life, and they have brought sorrow and regret. However, I know that I can only look forward and bare my crosses. I am sad, but at the same time I have hope. I am pushing through the sadness and am becoming stronger in the process.

Thank you for reviewing.

What I see as I listen

Here is what I see....

"The sun is setting behind the hills now, and all has fallen silent as a group of friends watch the sun like they used to do when they were young. It has been many years since they have seen eachother or even talked to one and other, but today isn't like the old days. Today they have gathered together in honor of their friend who lost his life fighting in a war. There isn't a word said between the members of the group. There is only a shared understanding that their friend wouldn't want them bitter at eachother anymore and that their friend deserved better than his fate. The hill they sit on overlooks a field of tall grass and as they stare from the setting sun to the field they can almost see themselves as children playing in the tall grass and enjoying their days. The boys who are now men all sit next to eachother while on the inside they cry, but on the outside they look like statues of stone. Not a single look of emotion touches their faces. Now in their lives they have seen to much of this pointless death, and the feel sorrow decend upon them just like the sun decends behind the hills and now their worlds are black like he sorrow they feel. Now once all eyes have turned away from them they begin to cry and their worlds blurr with tears of Sadness and Sorrow."

That of course is just what I see. Great work of art here, and I really think it deserves to be heard by everyone.

BlazingDragon responds:

That is a beautiful story. I have never experienced the death of someone who is very close to me, but I know that it will happen one day. I know that it will be hard, but perhaps it will give me enough life experience to compose with more emotion.

Thank you for reviewing. I like how you employed the song title at the end of your story. :)
