I completely forgot that I hadn't submitted this one! It's not too old, maybe a year or so - but I thought I had put all my best ones from that time on this site already. So, here it is.

"Amazing"

date: August 13, 2008

Such a powerful piece...I can't help but sit back and close my eyes as my past flashes before me. Bittersweet memories of my childhood come to mind, and I think about how much I've changed over the last few years. I also remember the tough times in life as I listen. It is sad, but I realize how they have built my character. This is a wonderful song for inner reflection and reminescence. It carries beauty and sadness, bringing back sad memories and yet providing me with hope as I look forward to what the future has in store.

Musically speaking, it is a solid composition which I thoroughly enjoyed. The electric guitar and strings at the violin just about brought me to tears. The chord progression tugs at the heart like no other, and the oboe that comes in really adds to that bittersweetness.

Great job, you're awesome! :D

Author's Response:

A lot of times it takes hearing person after person tell me from different points of view what the a song like this really is about. I think much of the time I don't even pay attention to what I'm creating - as long as I finish it. To hear so many people remark later on concerning the defining qualities of it makes everything worth it.

"Quite honestly I can't stop listening to this."

It makes me reflect on things.. And the title really does fit the song. When I listen to this, I find myself literally "Thinking In Slow Motion". I think about the things going on in life.. It's kind of a depressing song for me to listen to, because I don't like to think about the things that I think about, but at the same time it's nice, because the more I reflect on it, the stronger I am and it makes it easier the next time I have to go through it. Wonderful song, 10/10 5/5.

Author's Response:

i think you echoed my general sentiments about it myself. Though it can be tough to look at life as a whole and recognize just what is happening, I too feel that is where a large part of my strength comes from. You have to have hope...and you can't have hope unless there is something worth hoping for.

"It has a movie like quality to it"

date: July 17, 2008

I just love the high quality to this song. Everything- worries, problems, thoughts- they fade away revealing a starry evening sky and the ocean shore. I see the waves rocking back forth calmly, and I can almost hear them right now. This song should be in a movie or something amazing like that. It leaves you wanting more of it each time.

Author's Response:

Yeah, that would be pretty neat. I'll admit that I'd be totally down with being some well known film score writer. I'm working on another emotional-type piece at the moment which I'm going to enter in the current "emotional tears" contest or whatever thats running.

"Beautiful"

date: July 14, 2008

You give a perfect sense of feeling hope and joy in this work...all of it's elements are right in place.

The only thing is that the volume of the guitars may be a tad too loud...but that's very minor.

Great job on this and best of luck in the future!

Author's Response:

you are right about the guitars though... I've wondered for a while how it was I got everything to sound so loud without tons of clipping artifacts.

"Beautiful!"

Impossible to listen to this track with one's eyes open, it is extremely relaxing, yet also full of passion. I'm adding this one to a mix CD for meditation.

This one does tend to be most people's favorites... I had a cd full of these types of song that I used to listen to the same way. Turns out, most people preferred that album.
