Redefined: A piano album
Track 3 "Vivid"
(music, lyrics, and performance by George R. Powell)
What have we become
or have we always been
Erasers blurring the lines that
we have come to know
What have,
What have we done
Confusing all the masses or everything
That's always been true
When the darkest regions of our hearts
Come into the light
We see what they have killed to hide
Innocence, a graceful mask
to hide this face of shame
behind the last thing we're willing to admit
My ignorance has faded at last
There's no point in wearing this mask
There is no good, no not one
So why did I think I'm the exception
I was so naive
The darkness in my heart consumes my sorrow
Save me, save me
Show me your face
Show me your grace
Denial has been my greatest weapon
to fend off the truth
that I claim to pursue
So what am I to do with this knowledge
of Who I really am
I've worn this mask all too long
We know nothing of ourselves
so why are we pretending
Why are we lying to ourselves
The truth is too much to bear
But never the less, it's always there
