Track 3 "Vivid"

(music, lyrics, and performance by George R. Powell)

What have we become
or have we always been
Erasers blurring the lines that
we have come to know

What have,
What have we done
Confusing all the masses or everything
That's always been true

When the darkest regions of our hearts
Come into the light
We see what they have killed to hide
Innocence, a graceful mask
to hide this face of shame
behind the last thing we're willing to admit

My ignorance has faded at last
There's no point in wearing this mask

There is no good, no not one
So why did I think I'm the exception
I was so naive
The darkness in my heart consumes my sorrow
Save me, save me

Show me your face
Show me your grace

Denial has been my greatest weapon
to fend off the truth
that I claim to pursue
So what am I to do with this knowledge
of Who I really am
I've worn this mask all too long

We know nothing of ourselves
so why are we pretending
Why are we lying to ourselves
The truth is too much to bear
But never the less, it's always there

"Oh God..."

date: February 11, 2009

I loved this, infinately. It's 99.9999999% perfect the way it is right now. Just one, one tiny thing...if it had gotten slightly, SLIGHTLY more..."powerful" about midway through, it would have made me fall over and die happy. Then again, maybe I should be glad it's not more powerful. My corpse would start to stink. And I just took a shower.

Yeah. I couldn't live with that on my conscience either. =p

"The piano vers. sounds very nice"

date: January 9, 2009

as i said, very nice.

Well arranged, well played, and it made me feel much emotion, as all piano songs should. Well done, I love both versions.
Again, it reminds me of alesana's work.

"awsome!!"

date: June 29, 2008

nice song dude. is this song originally in guitar because i want you to put tabs or chords

June 29, 2008

Author's Response:

The original song is waaaay down at the bottom of my playlist.

Unfortunately, because I'm no guitar player, I cannot read or write tabs. I've just played in a church band for 6 years and am familiar, by ear, how guitars are played, plus I've listened closely to songs from rock bands to pick up on technique.

I could send you chords, but that's the best I can do.

(Verses/Opening)
Am7 - C - Em - D/Bm (x2)

(PreCH ("my ignorance has faded"))
Am7 - C - Em
Am7 - C - Bm

(CH)
Em - Cm7 - Bm7 - Am
Em - Cm7 - Bm7 - Am

Am7 - C - Em - D/Bm

And that's pretty much it.
