The Heroine

A song that was once one hell of a lot longer, condensed and compressed to fit listening needs [ie not just get bored straight away]. This is the final track on the album, possibly the longest track on Newgrounds as far as I can tell, and is AWSOME live [we slip a few solos in here and there when we do play it]

Its a song [if you must know] about a Heroine [ie female hero, not drug] who faces something/someone evil. Basically just about an ongoing battle between good and evil - and basically describes every superhero final battle ever told in a story [or atleast elements of it].

Please remember that we were only 15 when we recorded this [so that was 4 years ago now], and that our recording style was - lets just say different - from what it is now. We have new recordings coming out soon - I promise that I'll get something on newgrounds of superior quality.

Check out THE FALLING ASHES on FACEBOOK [where you can listen to the album FREE], or MYSPACE [which has been dead for a while now]; and if you are feeling really retro, goto our home at www.thefallingashes.co.uk

Thanks for listening!

^^ I don't know what to say man. You gave birth the theme song for Kechi The Hedgehog...

Awesome, relatively

This is a great song, and I'd love to buy the album (if I could find it). The overall crunch of the music took a turn for the worse around 1:10. It became a lighter flurry of riffs. I like the lilting, Jimmy Page-like riffs of the beginning. And then it switched to the metal part, which was a different dynamic than the rest of the song before that. The fuzzy parts around 2:30, or so, were, arguably the most interesting part of the song, as a space-vibe was now present. That was thrown out and replaced by an ultrafast solo pace for some of the rest of the song. Stylistically, this song jumped around too much to remain enjoyable. It's fine if you make an 8 min. song, but try to stick to a similar theme or two similar themes.
Also, the lyrics aren't amazing. In fact, they're downright derivative. They don't change with the tempo/mood changes, which could have been this song's saving grace. Instead, they are the same type of cliched writing we've all heard about a billion times before.
I can't complain about the musicianship, though. That was good, and so was the vocalist. My biggest piece of advice, stick to one or two themes.
Peace!
