The beginning of this piece came about after I watched the Cloverfield DVD, actually, so the first half was influenced by the movie (sort of, anyway).

The part afterwards was written on the fly in a couple days, with the metal guitars/drums/bass being added as an idea in the second to last day of writing.

Because of the ending I would prefer to classify this as film score rather than classical.

This song, like the previous one I submitted, was done for a class.

"This could be alot longer"

date: May 17, 2008

You could totally stretch that metal part out about 2 minutes, and then finish with a 2 minute outro and make it a true epic.

5 of 5 ,, ,but no 10 on review till you make it worthy of z ten with more awesome.

I very well may do that in some form, possibly making it even longer than that. Depends on if I end up making a full song out of it.

Thanks for the review.

"Epic!"

Epic song. Only point of critism was that it took to long in my opinion to get the other instruments in.. Nice piano tho:) And cool guitar work after that, only the guitar part lasts too short :( too bad.. Great song anyways, keep it up!

Author's Response:

Yeah, I think it could be arranged a little better. Actually I did make the intro a bit longer in order to better develop it and to allow it to get to the point where I felt it was ready for the faster part to begin.

Guitar-wise, I may end up turning this into a full song anyway, and if that happens the guitar part will be expanded quite a bit.

Thanks for the review. :)

"Pretty Cool"

date: May 14, 2008

I really like this. I love how it's all nice and then at the end the guitar comes in. The guitar had the perfect volume and with that classical music - just awesome This has a heroic feel to it, and the end sounded like it be when the hero destroys the evil character. What did you use for that classical sound (the only sound at the very beginning)? Was it Sytrus in FruityLoops?

Whatever it was, great work! I love this!

The beginning sound was a combinator patch for Reason 3.0 called "Full Orchestra", I believe. I tweaked it a little bit to make the individual instruments in it fit the range I wanted to use, but that's really the only instrument I used until the timpani came in.
