another stage theme idea. there's a small tag from classic chemical plant zone in there, because the idea was the overgrown remains of the classic zone, with broken mechanisms, faulty structures, and leaks all over the place. instead of a full-blown remix (which i won't do), i simply touched on the theme rather than redo it entirely. it's not exactly the 'same' chemical plant anymore.

original chemical plant music is most likely owned by SEGA.

Wow! Well done!

There's an eerie feel to the entire song - in a good way. It almost feels like looking through an old filmgrain texture. It's like you compiled all the awesomeness and win of Chemical Plant, Oil Ocean, and Aquatic Ruin and smashed it in a blender, then regurgitated it onto a silver platter for all of us to enjoy.

And that's a good thing.

Amazing.

I can really imagine how this is like Chemical Plant, but abandoned and in an old swamp, for some reason, the sound at 0:30 reminds me of Twilight Princess, while the music before and after said sound makes me imagine Sonic in a submarine and seing the old plant underwater, and the sound of the piano emphasizes just how old it is, and the beat really makes you feel like the place comes alive as you progress through the level. If I ever get good at Flash, I'll make a movie showing what I'm trying to say, but anyway, It's really a good remix. It really sucks, though, that I can't give a name for the things I was trying to describe.

thank you for the insight. i like hearing what people can get out of the music.

i totally understand both what you mean and what you meant, so it's frosty.

Fine as is.

Its good as is. Im really feeling how abandoned the place is thru the music. Plus, i like dampened piano music before and thru songs.

thank you, and coming back to this, it adds a charm. if i can enjoy the hellsing soundtrack, i guess i can get over myself for dampened instruments.

Superb, although...

The opening beat is so unique. It's almost as if it's a post-urban beat - ruins within a swamp. The piano gives a slightly sorrowful but playful tone as well. When the main beat finally comes in... it's very mystical sounding, but slightly overpowering. The shimmering effect might be coming off a bit strong, adding a bit of disorientation. The fade back to the original beat is excellently timed. The return of the shimmering sound at 1:35-ish is one of the drier parts. Perhaps the shimmer is wearing at me by this point. The final ebb is a little sudden, but sounds very good none the less.

Altogether, I enjoyed this song. There shimmer doesn't strike me as the best sound for such a song. It clouds the song itself. ...but perhaps that's just me. The rest of the song is great; smooth beat, very consistent but varying, professional timing. Love the piano solos.

Criticisms and suggestions: I'm sure you know by now. Shimmer annoys me, otherwise yay.

i do enjoy your reviews, as they vary in critique and rhetoric. i can accept that not everyone's into thick and dissonant pads, so that doesn't bother me. everybody's got their own tastes. thank you for your thoughtfulness, though, as it helps me get an idea of flow for these. the idea was for a mellow, yet slightly familiar setting. old ground with new footing, if you will. thanks again.

Its very good

Knowing what is to whrite a song, i know i could take you much time to do this. 1 Week at least. Btw, did you ever think to get real instrument sound instead of midi one? Zildjian.com for cymbal sounds. I think it has some other drum sound. CHeck it out!!!

darkmelee responds:

actually, this is a sampled kit. the synth drums are blatant, but the realistic kit is actually built of samples from a studio. i like mixing between fake and real.

i've got a beast of a library already, but thank you for the suggestion!

(also, this song only took an hour or more when i first made it out)
