Author Comments

This is a cover of Lamb of God's song, Laid to Rest.
All instruments were played/recorded by Nicholls (http://nicholls.newgroun ds.com/).
All vocals by me.
I love this song, and when I heard Nicholls' original submission (sans vocals, obviously) I had to put them on it, as the picture isn't complete without them.

"Rock on brother"

The instruments were done very well. I give Nicholls there all the credit he deserves. It really kicked ass. Now the beginning vocals where you were just talking really seemed weak to me. Just really didn't sound good and really didn't go with the rest of the submission. That last part though, "Didn't really go with the rest of the submission", is also a good thing. :P

The rest of the vocals were great. Nice hardcore metal voice and very enjoyable to listen to. At first I was wondering, but you really brought it throughout the rest of the submission. A couple of nice screams there towards the middle/end of the song too.

Keep up the good work. I think that the only thing that needs to be worked on was the beginning. (I couldn't do any better though lol)

Author's Response:

Yeah, this song is very old. I did it a LONG-ASSED time ago.
So, it's no surprise that there's a TON of room for improvement.
I do appreciate the critiques, as well as you actually reading the comments, unlike so many other people.
But if I did this song today, it would sound much, much better. My voice has improved, my recording ability has improved, my mixing has improved... only good things.
Glad you liked this old-school TN recording, man. It sure brings back memories, lol.

Awesome man, glad you dug it.
I've been thinking about redoing this song, but it's been through the portal so many times now that I think everybody's pretty much lost interest in it, lawl.
Thanks for all the reviews!

I can't really criticize you here. You also aren't Blythe, but you aren't trying to be him. I wanted to keep it accurate to the real song so I tried his voice, but you did a good job of making it yours (a few lyrical twists, keeping it in your own pitch).
Of course we both did Nicholls version of it, he did a great job. The only thing I didn't get is the silence he left in at the end there.
Either way, nice to meet another vocalist/metal head.

Author's Response:

Agreed, Nicholls is a BADASS.
And yeah, man, the HMAP could always use another vocalist (the part most needed, besides drummers).
Welcome and make yourself at home.
There's only one rule: keep it metal! \m/
