"Driving me Crazy"
date: May 12, 2008
This is making me crazy. Why? I've never rapped a day in my life, and this is making me re-evaluate my day job. Killer stuff. I think Supended was talking about your mallet action during the first chorus. I have to agree and say your higher frequencies are getting too much face-time. I personally think the kick is plenty solid, and it definitely lasts long enough (the release) to carry the rhythm. I'm a big fan of syncopated hi-hats, so judos on those. I think your piano could have used a little low-register lovin', especially to make up for the lack of a dedicated bassline, naw'mean? Oh! At the very end, the breakbeat you do with the snares is way too quiet. It almost sounds like you're embarassed to use it in a hip-hop song. :) Bring it out, and give it the attention it deserves. Sync'd rhythms are great on the dance floor, and any g-ster with flow knows exactly what to do with them. At any rate, this is a great piece, and nice to see you back in the hip-hop game. Thanks for dropping that line, I really appreciate the support!
See you on the grounds,
-Nate
P.S. I definitely smell a collabo.
