So, up until now I've been keepin' a project I've been workin' on pretty secretive to the local community and my friends and colleagues, but I told a few people about it the other day and decided to upload an instrumental version of a song here. So I've been writing a musical lately, and no, not a, "The hills are alive with the sound of music" queer-ass musical, it's actually a pirate musical. This song is the introductory song called, "Sail Away We"; written on piano and scored for various instruments. (You crazy young'ns and your fancy computers. XD) So the very basic premise of the story is there's this fellow named Darion Marion who's the son of an infamous pirate named Cpt. Barnaby. Darion lives in The Maiden, Barnaby's ship, with his father, brother Orrick, his shipmates, and crazy old swabbey. So infamous pirates right? Blood here, genocide there. Darion though, would much rather be a broadway singer. His father dislikes that to an enormous degree and craziness ensues. There's a comic love twist in there with a farmer's daughter named Cora and much much more. So anyway, there's the basics. I'm hoping to finish the rest of the musical by the end of the year so you'll probably be seeing- hearing rather- more music from that, so.... enjoy!

Also, there's lyrics in there, I just don't feel like postin' 'em because I havn't recorded a cast yet.

EDIT: So, I was trying to figure out why I was getting a bunch of comments all of a sudden and APPARENTLY as of 11/11/2008 Sail Away We (Instrumental) is #9 of best tracks ever! Badass. Thanks Newgrounds! ^_^

A musical, eh?

I would very much like to see this musical when it comes into existence. I like theater whether it's musical or non.
While the plot is something rather typical it still sounds like fun.
Please message me here on NG should this ever make it onto a stage.

As for the song itself: Kick. Ass. While my first impression of this song is not ten-worthy it's still quite good.

I'm impressed

This makes me want to sail around the Great Sea in the Wind Waker, or better yet comandeer the Interceptor and sail to Tortuga to pick up a crew and go grab some riches. Awesome!

Yar HAR!!!

Love it, great piece. It's good to see themed music every now and then.

Thanks Mako! I love coming across themed music that's actually being applied to something on Newgrounds, and this musical's been a blast to work on. Hopefully I'll be getting some more songs out in the near future! Thanks again!

you passed on the pirate aspect

what VST's are you using?

DylanGlow responds:

I used Edirol HQ Orchestra for this version, I'm trying to get a better sound with Colossus, but it's not really workin'. I'll hopefully be getting an actual recording soon. Thanks Sessile.
