Enjoy. I'm writing this for a local high school's orchestra. if it does get performed live, i'll do everything in my power to get a recording.

"A bit unrefined"

by: Esn
date: May 6, 2008

There's nothing wrong with the basic structure in this piece and there are some great individual sections (I like the 1st 10 seconds and 1:35 to the end especially). But overall, I get the feeling that you need to spend some more time refining it. The middle section, while having a great melody and accompaniment texture, for the most part doesn't have working harmony. It does come together sometimes - such as from 1:07-1:13, but often the bass and staccato strings sound like they're accompanying a different melody line entirely.

One other thing: referencing the second section at the very end isn't a bad idea at all, but doing it so plainly and so obviously (without changing it or adding anything new to it) feels somewhat artificial and hasty to me. It feels more like it was stuck on there than a natural progression from the previous passage (just my opinion, of course).

So overall, it's a promising piece, but not one of my favourites.

"Amazing string quartet!"

by: Fuoco
date: April 30, 2008

It's been a long time since I've heard a good string orchestra! Thank you for uploading this. I sincerely hope they play this at that school, it'll be full of awesomeness.

0:00-0:50.- You have no idea of much do I enjoy this segment, the main melody makes me feel like I'm somewhere else, like in an adventure with some friends to save the world from freezing (lol it's true) because this music gives me a cold feeling, like ice. Every string I hear is very well developed, good job!

0:50-1:45.- Ahh, the classical feeling to it. Now this certainly sounds like something I'd hear in a concerto at the capitol, or something I'd hear if I returned in time to the classical era. I like the break from the original melody, the bass rythm certainly changes everything.

1:45-end- OH! The return of the main melody! How amazing did it felt by just listening to it again. You're very creative, you somehow managed to use the same ending from the second segment without messing it up, sounded great actually. The fusion of both melodies, something I wish to achieve.

Very well done! I have no idea of could this be improved, so this is all I can say.
You're a great composer, keep that up!
5/5

Thanks man!

Still working on most of the transition parts, they're a little off, but meh.

I'm glad you liked the first section, because it was crazy hard to write. The piece is in C minor, and somehow I got myself into Eb minor, so I spent the majority of the second part of the section trying to get back to C minor. But i like the second section best, mainly because it actually has good musical dialogue.

Many thanks for your review!
