This is a competition piece submitted to "sdcompo" (google it) for Round 26.

It's mainly ambient with a little bit of coolness thrown in.
It was produced with equal creative input from cfx and Mick Rippon (google him too).
It was produced in Renoise (a 'music tracker'), exclusively by warping and destroying sound clips and using Renoise' BUILT-IN effects.

This piece didn't quite turn out the way either of us expected it to, but that's just the way of organic creative process, isn't it?

We still think it's good enough to show to people, and so we are.

"Incedible effort."

The most varied progression on Newgrounds that I know of.
Excellent choice of sounds, this had me thinking ooh Final Fantasy 8, then Streets of Rage, then Sonic the Hedgehog. All those games have superb music behind them, so well done especially because even though they were brought to my mind, the piece itself remains entirely original.

Author's Response:

I'm utterly flattered!

Thank you for your kind words.

I've got to give another shout to Mick Rippon, my cohort for this piece, who without his ideas, would have made this a much less entertaining piece.

I look forward to being able to bring increasingly better, increasingly skilled, and increasingly varied music to Newgrounds as time progresses.

"I like it... it's catchy"

date: April 23, 2008

It seems as though it could be used as background music for something neat... but that's partially because it lacks timbre. Still, good work.

April 23, 2008

Author's Response:

Lacks... timbre? I'm confused what you mean by that.

Does it lack boldness to come out and wave its arms madly in front of your face while running around in circles squawking like a chicken with acid running through its veins? Yeah. You're right.

Almost everything I touch turns into background music of one sort or another.
In this case the journey was way more important than the destination -- Mick and I learned a heck of a lot from each other while making this.

Confidentially, I'm glad the destination doesn't suck, even if it isn't the most exciting place to wind up. =)

Thanks for the review!
